Hello all,
If I go into classic control panel and click on Network and Sharing Center... it completely freezes the control panel window and does not open... Anyone else experiencing this?
If so, got a fix?
Thanks,
Layne

Hi, Problem of this kind could not be fixed as easily.
The best solution would be to resort to System restore and restore the pc to earlier restore points, when you did not have this problem.
This may clear your problem easily rather than trying other fixes, which may in turn would mess up further
-
Ew! Problems... All of my restore points are gone except one of which still has the problem...
I can't lose all of my info...
I run a pro studio and have tons of plugin configurations that I can't afford to lose...
Gosh any help... There has to be a way.
Thanks,
Layne

Are you not able to access Network and Sharing Centre by right clicking on the WiFi icon in the system tray to select that option and why do you need to go into there ?
There is an alternative method from the cmd prompt with this cmd -
control.exe /name Microsoft.NetworkAndSharingCenter
-
I am having issues with sfc /scannow and dism.
See attached screenshots.
-
Try this cmd - but you may have to roll back, ensure your original OS is sound then run the upgrade again.
What problems are you experiencing ?
dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth /source:c:\test\mount\windows /limitaccess

Hi, If the system restore point vanishes, that means your computer might have been compromised with hidden malware or trojans.
Try these tools and carefully delete the unwanted programs.
adware cleaner for adware and jrt tool for other PUPs. It seems that the virus is eating your restore points, so that you could not restore. That is the idea of the schemer.
adware cleaner and junkremoval tool by thisusu.org would be better to try.

It has been reported that after upgrading to Win 10 any previous restore points have been removed because System protection had been turned off, so the only restore points that are there if System Protection has been reinstated, would be just from the upgrade - but remember, Windows only creates auto restore points every seven days and only when the computer is idle - so there won't be a lot to choose from.
BTW - Has anyone seen Shane - just wondering if he's gone off on his hols without telling anyone.
-
Hi, Boggins , but i find restore points about a months back and could restore. But i do not know, that upgrading to other OS, would swallow those points.
Then what is responsible for vanishing trick of SR. Normally when a unwanted virus or trojan injects , its main aim is at SR.
-
The restore points would relate to the previous OS and not applicable to Win 10.
-
Hi, Boggins, I understand that. But there was nothing to know that he upgraded from earlier versions. It seems that he is just having windows 10.
-
At the moment the only way to upgrade to Win 10 is if you already have a qualifying version of Windows, unless you do a clean install with the Win 10 ISO.
-
Hi, Thanks . Then your point on SR is correct. He is having some other problems in his OS

It is basically getting worse and worse.
Now Cortana does not function when I click on the icon on the taskbar...
No sfc /scannow or DISM will work....
I cannot lose my APPS.... how can I repair this or revert back to 8.1 without losing my apps???
There has to be a better way to repair this errors rather than losing ALLL of the apps on ones computer...
Help if you can...
Thanks,
Layne

When you use the Roll back option in Win 10 it restores your previous OS and all that was in there from the Windows.old folder, so you shouldn't lose anything except anything you have installed while being in Win 10.
-
Wow I just tried to revert and it is telling me that the files were removed from my PC??!?!?! I have not removed anything...

That's bad news - hope you created a full external system image before upgrading ?
Do you have any restore points - the earlier the better, but some have found System Protection turned off after upgrading.
Run Disk Cleanup as an admin and see what it lists if anything for Windows.old
It isn't default checked for removal as was a 3GB file which I removed when I ran it and when it comes to Disk Cleanup prompt to delete - cancel so it doesn't delete anything.

I did a backup with arconis but I don't trust it.
:-/
Windows.old folder is still there... It will not allow me to revert for some reason

I experienced the network issues and resolved it by emptying the prefetch folder and rebooting then after windows loads completely i hit the shutdown button then started it back up there is a new registy key in memroy management that ive been studying.

Win 10 had some non-security updates either yesterday or today and when updates install, Windows usually creates a restore point.
Can you check your restore points to see if you've received those updates as they could be the cause of blocking the revert.
If that's still a no go then I think it would be best if you contacted MS about the roll back fail in it not recognising that you should still have all of the files, but is blocking the path somehow.
If there's a compatibility issue then it would be pointless trying to carry on with Win 10.
-
Good news! I tried the Arconis backup and it worked beautifully.
I upgrade to 10 again...another shot....
-
I'd try it through the upgrade option again but there could be compatibility issues which are causing the problems, regardless of how you upgrade.
-
How goes it so far?

It is going great other than the pure hell I am having with Nvidia drivers and my sli configuration. Sli will not stay enabled and games are freezing like crazy....
-
You may have to wait that one out, nvidia drivers have been the cause of most of the problems people have been having with 10.
You would think they would have had that worked out before hand lol
But it will take a little time and then nvidia should get some stable drivers out, you can always see what nvidia beta drivers are doing.
