Did some more testing. Using the "/errorlog" switch makes an empty log file have the size of 2 bytes. But the "2>>" method reduces the length of an empty log file to zero bytes.
Under configure it shows disk space usage at 0 bytes. Will the beta repair system restore program fix this problem?
Request Shane can a sliding bar
graph be installed to know it is running, besides the red light for PC and ready boost light flashing that it is working
I'm done with Beta System Restore so I'm unscribing from it.

hello! I used tweaking the program and I was careful to disable antivirus software before kick off. Now I get a message from Windows Security Center as my antivirus (I have norton antivirus) is not detected. using windows xp sp3. how can I fix it?

Hi there
Ok so I'm using your great program and glad to see your trying to fix the system restore
I have been having problems with this dam thing now for weeks and Microsoft is not at all concerned if it works
I'm currently using a program called RollbackRx because system restore is so unreliable
I have tried using your beta fix but it's no good it just will not work
if I use RollbackrRX and go back lets say a week or so The system restore will work
then within a day or so I try to do a system restore and it's knackered again any ideas ?
as I said earlier I tried your beta repair but it just won't fix it
and I know for a fact there are at least 6 restore points there I made from yesterday when it was working
I booted puter this morning and the system restore isn't working again (it says no restore points have been created etc)
I will try to work with you by answering any questions you have in tryin to get your program to fix it
cheers

The only way to get .net working again is to fully remove it and reinstall it.Yep that did the trick followed your instructions great job !
This tool will do the removing for you :-)

Does Windows Defender inhibit Tweaking.com - Windows Repair? Because I forgot to disable it, and of all the logs in C:\Program Files (x86)\Tweaking.com\Windows Repair (All in One), only two (windows_repair_hkey_local_machine_3_log.txt and windows_repair_hkey_local_machine_4_log.txt) seem to contain any information about what Tweaking.com - Windows Repair actually achieved. There were several warnings about "registry key is skipped (contains wildcard)" and "C:\System Volume Information\{long string1}{long string2} - CreateFile Error : 5 Access is denied" but almost the all the log files are completely empty, and the remainder don't say what Tweaking.com - Windows Repair actually succeeded in doing.
Lost system restore points in Windows are a common complaint with people using disk defragmenters on machines running Vista and later Windows versions. What happens is the defrag operation moves files around causing the Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) to create snapshots that overwrite older ones and cause restore points to get deleted. If you have VSS enabled on your hard drive, or if you are not sure if you do, the first thing you should do after installing Auslogics Disk Defrag is go to Program Settings - Algorithms and set the program to defragment in VSS-compatible mode. This prevents excessive growth of the VSS storage area and ensures that your system restore points will remain intact.
Not all defraggers have this option, so be sure to never use the ones that don't if you have VSS enabled.
Hi Shane
I found this very interesting and perhaps could be of some help :thinking:QuoteLost system restore points in Windows are a common complaint with people using disk defragmenters on machines running Vista and later Windows versions. Good find, but it looks like that option is only for that program. But it would explain some of the problems people have. I wonder if the fix for that is to just delete old volume snap shots?
Shane
Erm sorry Shane I really don't know if it's just a fix for "old volume snapshots"
but hey I just downloaded your updated v2.6.0 it's looking better with your every update
Please continue with your constant daily hard work making Tweaking work better and better
I think this program really is growing and going from strength to strength
it's a darn nuisance though....if only that darn System Restore problem could be sorted eh....
never mind though I'm sure you'll conquer this minor glitch and not give up with it
Cheers Shane

:cheesy:
Doing regular maintenance today and saw the Beta so I ran it. All I can report is that it seems to have run all the way to the end without any difficulties.
HOPEFULLY THAT WILL DO IT. I (THRUGH YOUR SITE)PURCHASED A PROGRAM CALLED "REGSERVO"
I BOUGHT AN HP LAPTOP FROM THEM. THEY WERE SELLING Malwarebytes FOR $29.00. THE PAGE SAID NOTHING ABOUT "TWEAKING.COM."
Be nice if app or Forum explained how to post results? :sarcastic:
In Tweaking.com - Windows Repair All In One v1.9.3 I have added a beta repair to repair the system restore for Vista, 7 & 8.system error 1060 it says, I am dim in the field of what any of this means so I assume that it wasn't fixed, I can't copy the log to send you it, it won't let me, or I just don't know how to do it.
Please post your results here on how the repair went for you.
Shane

Are you running the latest version in Safe Mode with Networking as your antivirus program could be blocking.
Missasip1938, this is a thread on how the repair system restore tool works, not the rest of the program. Was system restore working before or after the repair?
Willy2, that DLL is a system restore component and should be in your system32 folder.
