Hi, I downloaded a zip file from the web. When i click it to open USING WINRAR, i saw the diagnostic message that unknown method in config.ini , which i suppose to be one of the files in the zip. But it allow extraction in a separate window along with the diagnostic message. Why this message. Is it safe to extract or cancel. Why this error or diagnostic message?

What version winrar are you using? Also you can use the free version of 7-zip instead, it is what I use :-)

Hi, I use the latest winrar which i am using for years. Ofcourse free version. But i want to know whether it is something error report in winrar or config.ini in the zip file i extracted. Since it allowed side by side installation, i have this doubt.
Moreover i had downloaded a free version of a program from the internet, which included a registry correction to be made before installation. I did so and i had it registered for free. It worked on that day. I have tried to use the same the next day, and i got the time stamp error. What does that mean. I wish to inform that it was available as a free one at an earlier date. But i found that program useful and when i tried to use the second day, it gives the error and the program could not work.
Is it that the registry entries have been made to the system by this program, prior to the installation having the date of actual earlier date, to smart the pc to think that it was installed that day.. So, when i try to use the same again , the next day, the system finds and reports this error. What is this error? is there any possible way to overcome this.
When i downloaded 7 zip, it installed a virus, which my then mcafee found. So , i stopped using the same. What is the difference between winzip and 7zip. I expect a detailed reply.

I dont know what the error is in winrar and I cant find any info on it.
7-zip doesnt have a virus, you have to make sure you download the right one and not one of the fakes :-)

Hi, What is meant by time stamp error. I do not suppose that it is any thing to do with winrar. I have downloaded a free one and it has a registry changer information file. I ask , sir, shane, is that registry information would have changed the program, as if it is being installed in the eariler date when the freeload was available on.
