Title: svchost Hogging CPU resources
Post by: Concrete Pillow on April 26, 2013, 10:49:49 pm
So after my Repair Install whenever i start my Computer i see svchodt in Task manager taking up 40-60 % of my CPU (A quad core) which was never the case before. I promptly End process which does not affect the System at all except freeing up all that CPU process and making it faster..
What is the Problem ? IS it a virus?

Lets find out what is doing it :-)

When it happens again look at what PID it has in the task manager. Then run my tool here
http://www.tweaking.com/content/page/tweaking_com_svchost_exe_lookup_tool.html

Save the list it gives you and post it and tell me what PID was doing it and we can go from there

Thanks for your reply,
The PID was 2196.

I have had trouble with the SSDP Discovery service before.

Disable that service and see how your CPU does

Glad to help :-)

I had that srvice cause random problems where all the tray icons at startup wouldn't load. I myself diable it, has to do with finding UPnP devices, most dont need it enabled.

Glad I was able to help :-)
