Title: Hasn't helped
Post by: Tony Bee on December 28, 2014, 01:06:33 am
Hello. I was very impressed by your All-in-one repair software. Unfortunately, it hasn't fixed my problem - which is that Windows Update and Troubleshooter aren't working. Do you have any other ideas I could try? The Error ID is 42, which isn't recognised on the error list.

When you ran the Windows repair did you make sure to run all the repairs? Also on the windows updates do some updates install and some dont or do all of them fail?

And of course some more info on what you are on will help. version of windows and all that

Good news; the problem is fixed. I needed a Microsoft Tech to remote access the PC in the end and even he struggled for a while. Turns out the problem was caused by a couple of Windows updates which had corrupted some files. If anyone has one or other of these updates on their PC they should be removed immediately:

In my case, they stopped Windows Update and Troubleshooter from working.

Hi,
Is there any instruction to remove those updates generally?
