Post by: bonbonboi on January 26, 2015, 09:53:01 pm
Hello Shane,

I'm getting this message eventually, the case is when I enter a folder then click back or up to rename/delete that folder, that message appear, I have to wait for some minutes in order to delete/rename it.

Any idea?

Are you able to delete it after a small amount of time has passed? If so then it is most likely your antivirus scanning something in the folder, or still having a lock on the folder until it is done. happens all the time for me when I go into a folder and then back out right away and try to remove it, it is my AV scanning the files, and so they are locked. but once it is done I am able to delete it fine.

It is possible for explorer.exe to do the same thing, if it was reading any of the files in the folder (Size, dates and such) and it hasnt let go of the file yet.

Well I doubt about that, you know I start to dislike eset stuff nowadays,  any way do you think that (attached pic) would solve it?

Usually it's to do with having administrator options, Providing you have them, just right click on file, down to properties, to make sure "Everyone", or "All" are not checked!

No that isnt the problem, he CAN delete it, but only after a few mins have passed. This is normally because something on the system still has a lock on the folder or file and he is waiting for the lock to clear before he can remove it.

So right now just trying to find out what is causing the lock.

bonbonboi, just a s a test, if you boot into safe mode do you have the problem there as well? That way we can test with the AV out of the way and without having to uninstall it

Yes, you must log on as a administrator or run any progrma under the adminsitrator account...

No exceptions to this RULE any longer!!!!!

I am already an admin user, well that has disappeared since I changed some parameters in the eset's settings.

Previously I said I changed some stuff with the anti-virus software, I found myself was mistaken with that thing, the AV itself got nothing to do with such issues and might be that solved accidentally with other things I tried that time, today I solved such an issue by Enabling the "Application Experience" service (AeLookupSvc),  such issues often pop up for advanced users and heavily tweakers, since the Application Experience service is auto by default. Also some people mentioned the "Windows Search" service (WSearch) might lock files/folder while indexing is running, so if enabling the "Application Experience" service didn't work, try to disable/stop the "Windows Search" service (WSearch).

P.S. This issue isn't about NT user account privileges or/and NTFS permissions/owners.
