Title: Pre-scan results: missing and corrupt files
Post by: tramontana on April 07, 2015, 01:33:50 am
Hi! As instructed by the pre-scan results, I would like to post my results here to ask for help in replacing/repairing necessary files. I don't know if just by posting here is the correct way to do it, so sorry if I am asking for too much. But any advice is appreciated.

You can find my results in the attachment. By the way, sometimes I hear a slight clicking sound and I know that's never a good sign

You're right, clicking is never a good sign.

You could run a chkdsk /r from an elevated command prompt, but data can be lost.

SeaTools for Windows has an acoustic test which analyses noises as well as performing other HDD tests and if need be, the chkdsk /r can be run afterwards.

That is a lot of missing files, and where are you hearing the clicking sound from? Does it sound like its coming from the same area that the hard drive is in?

Testing the hard drive would be a good idea to do first just as Boggin suggested
