In Safe Mode With Network Environment
When the program is started, an error occurs with no picture, and the program ends.
* The OS uses Windows7 Japanese version.
Probable cause
When specifying the file path for the icon, the path is not enclosed in double quotes.
When outputting a file in the program
If the full path contains spaces
In Japanese environment (or multibyte character environment?)
It should be necessary to enclose the full path with double quotations.
Otherwise, file output fails due to white space.
ex. (File specification in Japanese environment)
NG C: \ Program Files \ icon.dll
OK “C: \ Program Files \ icon.dll”
Presuming from the above, the icon display file
Double quotes are added when editing paths
Presumed not to have been done.
The addition of double quotations
We rely on the function & ASCII code table.
Honestly, it's a sober and cumbersome process.
More presumably, but in English
This is considered unnecessary processing.
Files in the Japanese environment on the desktop
There seems to be a lot of output.
This is because the space is included in the simple and full path.
The error is reproducible in the following execution environment.

I'll pass this onto Shane but what is the problem why you need to run the repair program ?
-
My Windows7 is
Due to long-term operation, defects accumulate.
A situation that requires repair.
And in a normal user environment
Because it was displayed that there was an error that could not be partially repaired
Judging that safe mode repair should be attempted.
The reason why the repair program failed to start in safe mode
It was unexpected.
Although it is processed normally in the English environment
The situation where an error occurs in a Japanese environment is
It is rarely common in Japan.
Especially forgetting to add double quotes when editing paths
Patterns that cause errors are easy to overlook even in the Japanese environment. This is because errors only occur on paths that contain spaces.
Yes, it ’s rare in Japan,
Rely on automatic translation even if you don't understand English
Please write to help me.

As you have Win 7 Ultimate installed, can I assume that you have a Win 7 Ultimate install disk with which you can perform a repair install which won't affect your personal stuff or installed programs ?
BTW - Your English is excellent.
-
Win 7 Ultimate install disk is on the road at home.
Since it is MIA now, it is a situation that requires a search party.
Although it is called a corps, in fact, it is an army of only one by one citizen.
I'm not good at English (Japanese & hated grammar)
Rely on automatic translation of google.
I try to pay attention to the original text so that it can be easily translated.

Are you able to download the free version of Speccy which tell you your product key under Operating System.
https://www.ccleaner.com/speccy/download
Google for how do I create a win 7 iso then enter the product key into that website and click on Verify where it will release the ISO download to create a bootable disk.
That will be about 3GB so click on Save on the download.
This is the UK website for that but it would be best if you Googled it from your location.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows7
A Google may produce more than one link so use the Microsoft one.
You'll also need to download Windows USB/DVD Burner Tool to create the bootable disk.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=56485
You can change the language before you download.
If you have been able to do that then open Windows Explorer - click on Computer and insert the disk.
Double click on its drive where that should start the process.
This may take about 2½hrs during which you will be prompted to enter the product key.
Good Luck.
-
Finished until creation of USB media for installation.
-
When you double click on the USB drive, that will open to its files where you then double click on setup.exe Application where the process will start.
-
To execute SETUP of the created media
I understand, what was the purpose?
Running SETUP itself is easy
I don't know the purpose of the work and the rough steps
I feel anxious.
Sorry for the inconvenience, but the rough procedure after SETUP execution
Could you tell me the purpose of the work?
If you find that there is no impact on the installed applications
I feel I can work with peace of mind.
-
The purpose is to reinstall Win 10 in a way that it doesn't affect your personal stuff or installed programs.
Prior to 1903 I had done a repair install a couple of times and is quite safe.
I did trial a repair install on 1903 and it took about 7¼hrs which was a lot longer than on the earlier versions of Win 10.
-
Thank you for your reply.
Things that you explained in Win10
I didn't know it was possible.
By the way, is that method applicable to Win7?
My PC OS is Win7.
Do you have commands that only Win10 has?
(I don't know because I've only used it until Win7.)
-
Apologies - I'm more used to dealing with Win 10 these days that I forgot that you were using Win 7.
Yes, the same applies for Win 7 but you will be prompted for the product key.
This article is in English but you may be able to get it in Japanese when you Google for how do I repair install win 7 from your location.
https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/3413-repair-install.html
This article suggests that you back up your Drivers folders onto something like an USB and they can be found in C:\Windows\System32 and there may be 3 or 4 of them.
They can then be drag and dropped back into System32 after if needed.
-
Thank you for the introduction and advice of the article.
Launch SETUP of the USB media created the other day
When you perform an in-place upgrade installation
Judging, is it correct?
I backed up the Drivers folder
If I understand correctly
I will do an in-place upgrade installation.
-
I don't know what you mean by Judging but in-place upgrade installation is the tech name for it - I just call it a repair install :)
-
Thank you for pointing out.
After eating dinner, I will try to install repair.
Thank you for your guidance.
-
It should take about 2½hrs to complete.
-
I'm reporting because the maintenance is over.
After the repair installation, the RAM disk environment blew away.
It's a natural result because it's a third-party driver
I felt that I couldn't predict that I needed a repair tool.
(Well, it ’s not as convenient as humans.)
Result of setting temporary folder on RAM disk
The folder that Windows Repair acquired from the environment variable TEMP is
It becomes a folder that does not actually exist
Exit with an error that the picture cannot be found
It could be confirmed.
Modify the environment variable TEMP setting to the Windows standard state
Continue maintenance.
In safe mode with network environment
Results of running Windows Repair several times
Because we were able to confirm that the monthly patch of Windows Update was applied
Judging that the maintenance has been completed,
I am writing this report.
(Such as continuing to say that Windows 10 application failed)
Although minor bugs remain, it will eventually be moved to Win10
(It is judged that there is no problem in practical use)
Thanks to Windows Repair and this bulletin board.
That was a really big help.
If you try to write, the version is up.
Immediately let me download it.
-
I'm not sure what you are asking for or what you mean by the Windows 10 application failed.
-
If not, you're in a state where you don't understand.
Sorry for the confusion.
It's not a matter of seeking something, it's just a report.
There was a period when you could upgrade from Win7 to Win10 free of charge.
I tried to upgrade at that time
Was there a problem with my PC environment?
The upgrade failed.
With the result of the failure remaining
Every time immediately after starting Windows Update, upgrade to Win10
It just shows that it failed.
If I get the latest information again, it will disappear.
Do not mind.
Even though I'm an idiot, the OS is Win7
It does not start the application for Win10.
Sorry for the confusion, sorry.
m (_ _) m
-
Unfortunately the free upgrade to Win 10 is long gone.
In rare occasions the machine was not compatible for Win 10 but an antivirus program could block the upgrade.
I think I had to disable my Norton antivirus on one machine before it would accept the upgrade.
If you'd Googled your problem at the time then there may have been suggestions you could have tried.
You say you still have a few bugs - what are they ?
-
I understand that the free upgrade period is over.
Sorry for the poor explanation.
I'm not going to say there is a bug.
Environment variable TEMP
If a nonexistent path is set here
I received an error that the image was not found
The program ends.
This symptom should not occur in normal use.
1. At my responsibility, I put temporary on the RAM disk.
2. RAM disk driver was deleted during repair installation.
3. As a result, the environment variable is set to a non-existent path
Because I changed the setting.
Risk is something I should monopolize.
An error message was displayed as a result of my idiot.
I was embarrassed, but I wanted to report it.
I hope it was translated correctly.
-
So have you been able to reinstall the RAM disk driver ?
-
Yes, I was able to reinstall.
There is no problem now.
-
That's good and glad that you are back up and running as it should be.
-
Thank you very much.
Thank you again for the wonderful tools and your advice.
-
You're welcome :)
