After installing and using the all in one, I got stuck in the reboot loop. Running Vista Home Premium. Tried to uninstall the program but gives me Invalid Uninstall Control File. So I can't remove it. Any ideas?

Is the reboot loop the one that says applying updates?

Yes it was. Drove me crazy trying to find a recovery date that would actually let me get on it. I had to reinstall it over the other install in order to uninstall. Then went into the registry and deleted the .xml that was giving me the loop.

Yeah vista has an odd bug with that pending.xml file.
Deleting the pending.xml would have fixed the problem, recovery console and do a delete command.
I have the Windows repair set to delete the xml file on vista when the repairs are ran, for some reason it either couldnt because it was in use, or Windows made it again before the reboot.

I did a search for the pending file and I cant find it. the one I was able to delete was C:\Windows\WinSxS\cleanup.xml. I just turned it on and its right back in the loop again. Ugh. With this HP, you had to make your own recovery discs when you set up your pc, and a bootable disk. The boot only runs that pc doctor program which I'm finding quite useless. The recovery disk will take me to the options I want, but repair windows isn't one of them. I don't know where to go from there. I checked to run from disk but it says it cant repair it. But I ran every diagnostic there was and they all passed. ugh...you'd think by now Microsoft would make a system that works...lol. so, any idea how I can get to the pending file? I cant even start in safe mode...

Also have no option for a command prompt...im going to try to get to another working restore point and I'll let you know what options I have.

here are my options from the boot disk-
1-an error msg on a black screen during start up
2-Hard Disk Failure, Non System Disk Error, or OS Not Found
3-An error msg on a blue bkgrnd
4-not sure, run the basic test suite
5-View PC Specs Info
6-clear test log and allow tests to run again
7-View test log
8-exit

So far so good...hope it doesn't do it again! What a pain!!

It is a known bug in vista, I havent been able to find out why it does it, I even have the repair windows updates remove that file, it helps, but there are some, like yours where that file either gets created again or the repair tool couldnt delete it because it might have been in use.
Glad you are up and going :-)
The trick is to just remove that file, what a pain that it does it in the first place.
