Title: Help with DHCP for home network
Post by: vikrant singh on May 28, 2014, 09:25:59 pm
Hi Shane

I have router/modem (at home ) and now I want to create my home lab on one of system which  holds the few VM's on it. but do I need to turn off DHCP on the home modem/router?

If I do so I won't be able to get any device connected to my home network. Is there any way that I stop the wifi on my wires port and still can connect the devices via wireless?
Thanks
Vik

Why would you think you need to turn off dhcp in the router?

I use VMware and always have them set to bridge mode so they get an ip of their own from the router, that way they are part of the network as themselves and not sharing the same connection with the host system.
