Post by: jraju on September 10, 2014, 05:18:26 am

speccy reveals the computer information (piriform). It shows the software details about the monitor.I want hardware details of monitor like the size of the monitor, and the make of it etc.
I found a code probably vb code in surfing the net. But, i do not know  how to make tbis vb code to execute on my computer  to get the details. If any readymade programs available, i would try

Programs can only return information about the hardware based on how Windows reports it to them. So if Windows doesnt know the actual size of your monitor then no program will, normally windows will only know the model number of the monitor and the screen resolutions it supports.

Shane I understand that . But i have come across a vb script, which will show the monitor make and everything by vbcode. This has been given in a program language text. How to run that on my computer, i do not know. I even checked self check of monitor by disconnecting the video cable and then start on the monitor. I thought that it will let me know the default settings. But it only self check to show that monitor is powered and working.
I am having a lg monitor crt type. The drivers of video from Intel. Is there any hardware monitor diagnostic tool?

Again, any program and script can only repair what windows tells it. I program in VB which is the same as vbscript. It might tell you the monitor info such as make and model but only the way windows sees it. It can return screen resolution and other things as well, again as windows reports it.

A lot of monitors dont even report their model to windows, they just show up as a generic monitor. But they will normally report what resolutions they support. Old crt monitors didnt do that very much. Didnt start becoming normal until the lcd monitors came out.

That PRTSC looks fine on here, but I'm using a laptop and my graphics are fine.

Have you been able to get into your Graphics settings or tried a restore point back to when it was displaying correctly for you.

A screen shot isnt going to show the lines on the monitor you are talking about. Windows takes a screen shot of itself not that of the monitor, no possible way to do that. So your screen shots look totally fine.

Have you tried adjusting the positions and size of the screen on the monitor itself? Every monitor has its own settings you can access by the buttons on the monitor. It isnt a graphics problem, you just need to adjust the settings on the monitor itself.

Hi, I tried and meddled with some settings of monitor. Then I tried the settings from some internet sites help. But for some of the settings, i could not take the risk of changing without knowing what it would do the display.
Can you reset the monitor settings? pl say how

Dont have an answer fo that, I dont know the monitor you have and what menu items it has, but for the last 20 years every monitor I have used, even the crt ones, had a menu built into them and there was always a reset option.

What is the exact model of the monitor and I can google it and see if I can find any info on how the reset is done on it. Might be hard to find the info since I havent seen a crt monitor in maybe 10 years lol

I've tried downloading the English version of the manual but all I get is a blank PDF page but as it's dated 2004.....

I had more luck with the service manual for Abnormal Displays, but all that gave was trouble shooting charts for checking various voltages -  so this could be a hardware problem rather than just pressing a button.

One thing you could try after switching off is to refit the cable should there be a bad connection on the plugs/sockets.

Hi, Boggins I did that . it self checked with three colours and there is no problem in monitor. It is only in the settings that i meddled with. There is no reset button. But there is a recall menu in one of the adjustments. What is recall in monitor , i do not know. It is in On position, when the computer is booted.
Would you give the link for the manual you tried? I could try at this end . Thanks

User Manual - http://www.lg.com/levant_en/support-product/lg-700E

Service Manual (I tried the top one) - http://www.eserviceinfo.com/index.php?what=search2&searchstring=lg+monitor+700E

The Recall menu could be a tech adjustment and while I haven't gone far through the Service manual, there may be a reference to it.

Hi,
The downloadable link is given here. Please see the Get ..below for link
But there is no such thing as default values present in those pages.
Rather wiring and sophisticated diagrams on technical side.
There are some preset command. How to execute without risk? please

You have to download the Get manual link found in the page. Just below the Rose pdf cover. Then you could see. I tried to enclose, but since it is more than 4 m b , i could not. You could download. In the mean time, i will try to convert the pdf to some format, so that i could edit the relevant information. But you can open and see the entire pdf file .

So which page/section is this in - I take it you read the warning in red about competence in working on electronics ?

Right, I'm in - what options do you have when you press the Monitor Menu button ?

Continuing to read....

Did you read the tools requirements for this ?

This is a job for a qualified electrician - even the factory reset requires an EEPROM ?

Is there any place where you could get another monitor or have this one repaired by qualified people ?

in OSD, in special, i have two options. One recall and other Reset. But it is always on. Should i turn it off and then on and then reboot to get the reset of the monitor. When i click the adjustment button . It shows two menu Ok and cancel. If i choose the cancel menu and then stop the adj button, it again turns to ok. I could only explain, but i could not prt screen . Since it is osd

I don't understand what you mean that the Recall and Reset are always on - do you mean that those are active screen buttons that you would click on ?

I'm not sure what the Recall does but the software Reset option must be there instead of the otherwise regular button - it's a pity the User manual won't download as that operation would probably have been included in it.

Hi, Normally when you reset some settings in position and all other items, you use the adjustment button, a square button on the right and then reset the nos by adding or reducing and you again press this button when you reach a desired state.
so, when i go to special menu, that is the last adj button and then try to adjust it to cancel instead of default on position. I could not cancel if i press this button again. Now it shows OK instead of nil. These are not active screen buttons, It auto close once everything is done. The settings are active buttons located below the monitor screen.

On the support page - http://www.lg.com/levant_en/support-product/lg-700E# there are some contact phone numbers - why not give one of those a try ?

From the UK they are displaying as Free Phone Nos but don't know how they will display for you in India.

Hi, This problem has been resolved with a simple long  press in the > adjustable button at the right in the OSD of monitor. I degaussed and then reset. It was present in the special tab in the monitor menu, when you press the round button at the left. I checked with changing the numbers in position contrast etc, and it worked. simply wonderful and easy but evading solution for the past few days. It is by trial and error method i found out. Once, i long press the Reset Button, it is reporting as done. when you see the adjustments, it it amazing to find  that the problem is settled. Everything is placed in default settings, and my stretched problem has been solved.
Thanks shane, for his immediate diagnostics and Boggins for gem of replies to this thread
