Title: I have a few thoughts on Simple Performance Boost 1.0.3.
Post by: Tomas_Sweden on November 04, 2011, 07:08:03 AM

If I look in the description text for "General Tweaks" and for:

---Keep Positive Entries in DNS Cache For 4 Hours Instead of 24 Hours---

This tweak is helpful when there are DNS changes on the net or your network.
Instead of waiting 24 hours to look up the DNS again it will do it in 4. This
will help with websites or local computers that come up as not reachable.

The following keys are changed.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Dnscache\Parameters]
"MaxCacheTtl"

Would be great to see what you change it to for example:
"MaxCacheTtl"=dword:00003600

I thought I could only check thoose tweaks I want to change from your program,
but if I did that thoose other entries in for example "General Tweaks" there
changed to default.
Then I Open other tweakprograms like "MZ 7 Optimizer" and "Ultimate Windows
Tweaker" the tweaks I already am using is checked the first time I start the program.
It would be nice if I could only check one or more tweaks without the other
entries be changed back to default, if I have got this right?

That's why I want to see what entires for the registry you change, so I can
change it myself.

I really think you program is good, so you don't feel I am just complaing

Your right, right now the program sets them back to default. Currently is you take a check off the boxes right above the apply button it will skip those sections and not set anything.

While it would be better to do that per tweak, right now you can do it per section.

You can always look up what the program changes it to in the reg under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Dnscache\Parameters

Windows default is 86400
My program puts it to 3600

Yes I have looked up what your program changes in the registry and then used
your "SPB_Backup.reg" to safely change it back.
That the program makes a copy of the parts of code that is relevant when you
start the program it's just brilliant, smart thinking.

This is a general question about the registry, do you know if there is a way to
copy and paste the path in the registry so you do not have to click through
every time? I mean the same way as one does with Internet links.
