Did you un-install it and download the latest version using another browser like google or MSN?
and or only happen with firefox?
?

We need some more details such as the version of Windows you are using and how do you normally connect to the router - wired or wireless ?
If using wireless can you connect when using an Ethernet cable ?
Are you using a laptop or desktop ?
As you can't connect in Safe Mode with Networking, that would suggest system files, drivers or the modem/router rather than an infection.
Are all of the lights on the modem and/or modem/router green - there should be 4 if using wireless and 5 when wired.
Let's try a power cycle first.
Switch off the modem, router (if separate modem and router), the computer and disconnect all cables for a couple of minutes.
Reconnect the cables then switch just the modem on (if applicable), wait for all of the lights to come on and then do the same for the router and then switch the computer on to see if you have a connection.
If you still don't have a connection then try these commands from the Command Prompt run as an administrator, but we'll need the info requested before we can look at other possible solutions if needed.
netsh winsock reset catalog
netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /renew
ipconfig /registerdns
exit
Now reboot and check the connection.

Does it happen to other computers in the house or only yours? Have you also tried a different internet connection like at a friends or family members house?
Basically I want to rule out that the problem might be your ISP or router.

Hi thanks to everyone
It starts then stops, use to be fine
I use dialup
Thanks again
-
Dialup is before my time  so I'll leave that to Shane or others.
It would be difficult to take a desktop to a friend's which is why I asked if you are using a desktop or a laptop.
Do you have any other devices that use the Internet ?
Can you give us the info I'd asked for in my previous post and how long does it stay up before going down ?
This could still be an ISP problem, so have you reported the fault to your ISP ?

Hi guys thanks
It is a XP Laptop
It goes for about 2-3 minutes then stops
I can get on the internet ok, just downloading updates like AIO repair
Also youtube doesn't play either
Thanks again
-
Thanks for that info.
Do you have a friend or relative where you could try your laptop on their Internet ?
Another source could be either a local library or Internet café.

Dialup? WOW, now that is a word I havent heard in years lol
Well I use to work in a tech support dept years and years ago fro a dial up company. And dial up can easily be a weak connection. I normally always recommend some sort of download manager that supports download resuming, that way if your connection drops or something then it can continue where it left off.
This is a major need for everyone, yet NONE of the browsers support proper download resuming. I have no clue why they wont add that feature.
