Hello
I ran the tests at Gibson Labs and all was good. I then ran the firewall test which is separate and the leak got through saying I had no firewall.
I have the firewall at default right now because I cnnot understand settings.
I have avoided other firewalls as I read there are compatibility issues with third party ones.
Are there any suggestions that would make the firewall more secure?

Honestly you dont need a firewall.
A router is a hardware based firewall, and as long as your behind a router you will be far safer if you where not behind one.
The only reason to use software based firewalls is to either block a program or if your not behind a router. :wink:
If you dont understand how firewalls work then installing a software based firewall will only be a pain.

I read where Win 7 is safe at default and pretty much what you said is true. So, I'll leave it alone. I just got confused trying to decipher the instructions within each area of the firewall.
Btw, we are all very pleased with the tweak registry backup especially its simplicity -wife even can use it and she is worse tham me.
One puzzle occured. I dropped a folder by error and tried a registry back up to when I know it existed. It had to do with VMware and I deleted a folder 'vmsource' and that was an error b/c it contained Ashampoo movies. I have the path where 'hidden fiolders' are revealed.
By restoring the registry the folder was still gone so I guess it is not like Acronis snapshot.
That is what I used to recover it. I even used recuva which could not find it.
So it is true that restoring the registry will not recover a deleted folder, true?

Folders are part of the file system and info on them are not stored in the registry.
Windows settings for the system, drivers and all that is what is stored in the registry. :wink:
