Title: Tips for NON-techies to back-up your old hard drive
Post by: jabauman on August 29, 2015, 12:11:22 AM
Thanks to the techies at Tweaking.com, I learned the old 640GB hard drive on my Sony Vaio laptop was shot and needed to be replaced.  I spent several
frustrating days trying to figure out Clonezilla before I discovered Redo, a free software download you can use to create an exact copy of your operating system
before installing your new drive.  You can download this super user-friendly program at http://redobackup.org/

I opted to install a 1TB Samsung SSD 850 EVO.  My laptop now boots up in about 10 to 12 seconds, my photo editing software is super fast,
and I can run several videos simultaneously without a glitch.  I am a happy camper!

Redo is great for newbies, but it still has advanced options for techies who want to partition their drives, etc.
