Title: Windows Update Tray Icon Not Working
Post by: rusty on September 12, 2015, 07:51:42 pm
First time poster here.

I ran your Windows repair tool to fix a tray icon problem (twice in safe mode), but now I am not getting any alerts for available Windows/Microsoft updates. Any suggestions that would fix this problem? Originally, the tray icons kept resetting themselves to the defaults, and none of the Microsoft Fixit tools/suggestions helped until I ran your repair tool.

Kudos for making such a great tool in spite of my current problem.

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit on a Dell desktop for what it's worth.

When you ran my repair tool did you make sure to run all the repairs and to run them in safe mode?

I ran your Windows repair tool (with the default settings) in Safe Mode, twice, as recommended.

There are a couple of threads in the windowssecrets.com Lounge forum where others have reported the same thing and it could be MS self inflicted because of other updates.

These are the two threads for reference to see if they help.
