Title: "Repair WMI" is much slower than previous repairs--Normal?
Post by: darkhorse on November 11, 2015, 06:45:47 pm
I started Windows Repair 4.5 hours ago and most of the early repairs made obvious progress showing lots of Drive usage and CPU usage, but on "Repair WMI" the command prompt says "Step 3 of 3 - Searching system for MOF and MFL files to add back to WMI..." and it has been stuck on that part for almost 2 hours. Occasionally CPU usage pops up from 25% to 25.83% or something but it is usually static at 25% for minutes at a time, similar story with Drive Write.

Is this normal behavior? How long should I let it run?

That is cmd.exe doing it, it is doing a scan on the drive looking for those files, my program is simply waiting for it to finish.

So it can take a while based on the speed of the drive, the number of files and folders and if you are running the repairs in safe mode like the program wants, the reason for that is because of 3rd party programs like anti virus that messes with the repairs.
