Try AdwCleaner followed by a scan with Junkware Removal Tool - the link for JRT is lower down the AdwCleaner page.

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/

For Adw - click on Scan and that may list items in the lower pane it considers adware - just uncheck any you want to keep.

When the scan has completed, click on Report which will show you what it has found and will delete when you close that and click on Cleaning - it will produce another report after the reboot to show what it has removed.

For JRT - just run that until it completes.

VLC - the worst software to play the video. I do not like!
GOM - best of the best

I wouldn't say GOM was the best of the best if adware is a condition of using it and there are many happy people who like VLC - but each to their own.

Adware can leave a computer vulnerable to all sorts of backdoor exploits.

Adware can be turned off - in the application settings ;)

Why I not use VLC?
I just had a problem with the video playback.
VLC does not have many advanced options like GOM Player (many favorite features)

If I could make a couple of suggestions  ...

1. When you find a fix to a problem it would be helpful to other people reading if you
explained how , or at least posted a link .... sharing is an important part of a good forum

2. Give some thanks for the help you receive .... a little appreciation goes a long way !

Just a thought ....
:)
