Title: Windows 10 Firewall not working
Post by: drauenhorst on April 03, 2017, 01:53:13 pm
I have Windows 10. I've noticed after having issues with Office 365 (had to uninstall and reinstall) that firewall is not working. I can't turn it on under services. Says to check the log. In addition, I noticed that Windows 10 shows it's up to date but when looking at updating history it shows 'no updated have been installed yet'. Any ideas? Appreciate your help!

Firewall error:  Windows could not start Windows Firewall service on Local Computer. Error 1079: The account specified for this service is different from the account specified for other services running in the same process.

Can you go Start - type services.msc and press enter.

Scroll down to and double click on Windows Firewall and under the Log On tab check to see if yours is the same as mine.

If Local System Account is checked, then check the button for This Account and enter as for mine - you don't need to worry about the password etc. - click OK when done and then start the service.

However, in some cases you may need to set both password boxes blank.

You may need to do the same for the Base Filtering Engine service.

Both should then be Running and Auto.
