Running Tweaking this morning , I was using check disk in safe mode. It got stuck at 11%. After an hour I decided to reboot. However, it booted back into safe mode. I had to use a complete system repair to restore my Windows 10.
The problem is that the backup drive it was checking as now showing red.
Will it be safe to wipe and defrag it and start over?

When a HDD shows as red, it usually means that it is nearly full.
How much free space is showing on it ?
If this is an external drive then it should be okay to format it.
However, to check its integrity, download the trial version of HDSentinel which will report on all connected drives.
Uninstall when done to stop the clock on it and then you can use again as and when needed from your Downloads folder.

Download the Limited Trial 5.30 .zip one.

You obviously are trying to sell a product and did not read my post correctly. Using this utility for system backups and then attempting to repair my system. My windows 10 was stuck in safe mode and after trying a reboot, which worked; I noticed that the back up hard drive partition had turned red, I have been unable to reverse this situation.
