Title: Unable to open Registry Backup
Post by: colion on November 19, 2018, 05:49:19 pm
I installed Registry Backup.  However, although I checked the open after installation box nothing happened.  I also cannot open the program by clicking the desktop icon or the *.exe file.  Deleting and reinstalling the program did not change anything.  Any suggestions?

I've just installed this program to check it out and it opened fine for me on completion of the install.

Can you boot into Safe Mode with or without Networking to see if it will open from the desktop icon ?

In this mode all 3rd party programs are isolated and if it works in this mode, then you will have to perform a clean boot to determine what in your start up/services menu is blocking it.

I assume this is the only program that doesn't open from its desktop icon ?

Same for me, portable or installed RegBackup 3.5.0.3:

I cannot open the program by clicking the desktop icon or the *.exe file.
I can see the program running in the Task Manager, but no windows is open.
More of that, the program is permanently using 25% of CPU...

This problem occurs with a Portable running Windows XP SP3.
And it runs ok with another Portable running Windows XP SP3. Very strange isn't it ?

Can you try what I've suggested in my last post.

This will eliminate if it is something that is installed on the problematic machine.

I started in "safe mode", but it failed !!! ???
(blue screen with text, that I was unable to read as it restarted immediately after)

Then, I selected the "Normal Start" ...and after that Registry Back up was ok...
Still very strange... but it works now.
Many thanks

That's strange.....

I don't have an explanation for that but glad that it is now working okay.

The Windows Repair program incorporates the Registry Backup that you can also use.
