Title: Hastcat issue for retrieving windows password

Hashcat is my favorite tool for password recovery and had a couple of success with PDF and Excel. However, it failed this time for retrieving a forgotten Windows 10 password.

What i am doing: boot the computer with Ubuntu LiveCD and pull off the SAM and system files. Then get the hash file via mimikatz. Finally, cracking the hash value with Hastcat. However, it is running for a week and no password found.

I'm always wary about people asking for help in retrieving lost passwords as there is no way of knowing if the machine belongs to them.

Using Windows password reset disk
Download a third-party tools
Log into the locked computer with other accounts
.....That is all i know.
