Is this with just Win 10 installed and without any other program ?

If the files are .exe then this article may help - https://windowsreport.com/exe-files-not-opening-windows-10/

Have you tried to see if they will open in Safe Mode with Networking ?

While Malwarebytes shouldn't interfere, isolating it and any other 3rd party program by booting into that mode should let you know if it is the volume or MBAM.

Can you download the trial version of HDSentinel which will give a written report on the status of the HDD.

https://www.hdsentinel.com/hard_disk_sentinel_trial.php

This is a 30 day trial version where you can stop the clock on it by uninstalling when done.

Selecting Save on the Download will allow you to reinstall from your Downloads Folder as and when you want to use it next.

The fact that you had problems right from the reinstall would suggest something else is amiss rather than it being a software problem.

I don't know which updater program you use and I stopped using them, but was impressed with DriverHub which you could give a try, but I would think a driver would still need to be installed to check for an update for it.

Was it a clean install of Win 10 or a repair install and did you create the install media from - https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10

Have you run HDSentinel yet to check the status of your HDD ?

Give the free DriverHub a go to see if it finds any drivers for you.

Generally, any error code ending in a 5 is an Access Denied.

Anything that you can't do in normal mode, try it in Safe Mode with Networking - this will isolate Malwarebytes and other 3rd party programs.

Have you ran the repair program to see if it will sort out your Permissions ?

Manually create a restore point then use the program to boot you into Safe Mode with Networking, open the program and select just the first 4 repairs and Repair #31.

Ensure you are using the latest version of the program which is now v4.7.2  https://www.tweaking.com/
