Title: Pro version - Problem with web site
Post by: Bidochon on April 15, 2021, 12:30:52 pm
In Europe, for several hours, the tweaking.com address was not accessible

It was not a DNS problem, because on a help forum where the program was recommended, people could not download "Windows repair"

I have the "PRO" version and .. the program took a long time to launch, then told me that my registration key was not good, with a message "Hello Houston ... etc"
The PRO version became a "FREE" version

The problem is that I wanted to access functions that are ONLY available in the PRO version

When buying a license, is it for the program or for access to the website?

If the site disappears I no longer have a PRO version?

Earlier today Tweaking.com did come inaccessible which I reported to the Admins.

It is now fixed.

The reason your Pro version became the free version is because it was unable to phone home to confirm the validity of your product key.

So if the site does not work or if one day it disappears, the purchased "PRO" version no longer exists?

My question is therefore justified:

Did I buy a key to access the site or a program?

The phone home for the validity of the key is not a justification

Key verification must be done on another server or by another method

I have the Pro version of WR but at the time I didn't have the occasion to run it so I didn't experience what you did.

The WR server being down is a rare occurrence so there's no need to provide another means of verification.

As it happens, I've disabled my wireless and opened the program but it still showed as the Pro version so I'm not sure why you got what you did, but if it returned as genuine once WR was back up then all's well.
