Title: FEATURE REQUEST: Registry Backup
Post by: FlyingHorse on March 19, 2013, 09:28:00 PM
I would like to see a way to customize the folder names that the backups are saved to. Specifically I would like to be able to use the following format:
Code: [Select]
yyyy.mm.dd_hh.mm.ss
rather than the current:
Code: [Select]
m.d.yyyy_hh.mm.ss-tt
Actually the ability to configure the date/time format anyway the user wants would be nice  :)

Thanks

Sadly I am not able to do that (AT least right now). The program stores that folder with the date and time format that is the format currently on the system.

This way when the program goes to check to remove old backups or loads the restore list by age it is able to do the math properly to get the date difference between the current date and the date in the folder name.

If I didn't do it this way then the math wouldn't work correctly since the day, month and year would be different and the program wouldn't know.

Of course down the road I could see if it would work if I let the user set the string format for the date. Then the program would know how to do the math with it, but I would have to test it to see.

Working on v2.0 of my advanced system tweaker right now. Once I am done with it I can do a few tests and see if I can get it to work. Of course the draw back is that if the user changes the date string after backups have already be done the program would do the math right on those.
