As I can see, I am unable to get any reports. Tomorrow I should get a CD with Win7, since I only have a pre-installed windows-version and therefore no cd. I only have the product key for it (or what it is called). Once I get the CD, I will try to do as you have written.

Thanks to all of you for your big efforts. Please cross your fingers that it will work.

Sorry, no. No matter what I do, I end up with the same error. If I try to start up with a windows 7 cd in the diskdrive, shouldn't it then be able to find the missing/broken files from there? And if it works, would my backup files on c:/backup still be there?

Computer is a laptop from Packard Bell. It runs Windows 7.

In the advanced boot option, there was an option in the "Repair computer" that offered to set to factory default but still keeping my files. I chose this option and it made a back up on c:/backup. Once it was finished it should reboot. It shuts down, starts up with "reading files" but then comes an error saying "The system configuration could not be done. If you wish to continue this configuration, you should restart the computer", and then a box with OK to click on. And then it goes on in circles - restarting - reading - error message - restarting - .....

I remember once "in the old days" you could make a "rescue disc" (3,5" disc), which is why I thought of a Win7-cd containing all the files...???

So, now I really messed everything up!

I found out how to go to advanced settings (F8) when starting the computer. I asked Windows to repair itself, but to make a backup and keep my files. Everything went well, untill the reboot. Now Windows cannot open, and an error comes up and keeps saying "Windows configuring will continue after reboot". When I reboot, it all starts over again with the error and the request for reboot.

Do I need to find a CD-rom with Windows 7 and insert it before starting the computer? -I only have a license for a pre-installed Windows 7-version and therefore have no CD.

OMG - I almost give up!


PS. There are 0 kb in bad sectors!
PPS. It will not help you with a screen shot of the reports, since everything is in Danish

As I wrote before, the sfc /scannow just closes down when it is complete. I don't know where to find the report. (It doesn't write anything afterwards. It reaches 100% and dishappers).

Yes, sfc /scannow completes 100% without any problems.

I can open all the different sheets in WinRep. Only problem is, that when I go to Step 5 "Repairs" and start it, it cannot begin properly. It tries four times, and then says "that something is blocking"

Also: does anyone know why sfc /scannow just closes down after running and no report is to be found anywhere?

I really appreciate all your efforts to help my - I am not much into these kinds of areas

The Windows Repair never really starts, so yes, right from the beginning and the log therefor don't say anything. WinRep just says, that something is blocking, and should be unblocked before trying again. I already did disable my antivirus, which is why I don't have any more ideas of what to 'close', disable etc.

I only operate the WinRep in safe mode, but it doesn't help

I got my own PC fixed this way, and my husbands laptop is EXTREMLY slow even though there's a lot of space free. It is approx 3-4 years old now, and might have several errors in the system?

Have now run sfc /scannow, but the window closes right after having reached 100%. There's no report to view.

By using Windows Repair v3.3.1 I have run Pre Scan and Check Disk and all errors are corrected, but it is still not enough to run the Repair.

What to do?

I am trying to make a Windows repair, but it refuses to run. "The current repair has failed to start 4 times. Something is keeping the repair from runninng.

I have already:
1) Opened PC in safemode
2) Disabled all 3rd party programs (via msconfig)
3) Cut off all power etc. and re-plugged it

What else could be interupting the repair? What did I not do?

Please help
