Thank you for your reply.  However, I used the tweak and experienced the issue the day I created the post, so I'm not so sure it is solved.  Plus, the the linked thread in previous post only has a single individual describing the problem and declaring the solution.  As far as completely verifying that "the issue was solved", I would say that it is low to none whatsoever.
Open command prompt somewhere in your Start menu and type
ver
You will get something like my version right now
Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.10240]
                                                        ^
If your ver is not later than the    10525 then it isn't fixed yet till after that version supposedly. Threshold 2 will now launch in early November
It will be 10565 I think, that may change but I'm not keeping up with where they are anymore. Supposed to be big announcement today
Whether they fixed or not don't mean nothing, if they didn't then don't use. This is Microsoft problem not the tweak. I used that tweak also for long time but have it disabled right now.

How old was the registry backup?

The new start menu is a stupid app, which means it is easy as glass to break.
I create one daily with Task scheduler.
Haven't had a chance to try anything else just yet, swamped at work with multiple problems and I'm the senior Elect Tech. Have to bring my stuff home cause I hate anything over 8 out there.

You got that right, Start is a mess. Scattered all over the C: Drive and registry.
Believe Metro Start shortcuts are here but none of my pinned
%userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Application Shortcuts
My Pinned that disappeared are here
%userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs

Hmmm, thought I put you in Timeout

ok holding fire but looks near on point but w/o a $M auto-defrag to the extent that could matter.

I used to run an installer that copied the shortcut for this program to Startup on Win 7 and it worked
Does your shortcut properties look like this?
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Tweaking.com\Registry Backup\TweakingRegistryBackup.exe" /auto

To repair Task scheduler I think this will work

Find command prompt in your Start menu and right click run as Administrator, if that not available then might have to right click it and choose properties and select the box say |_| Run as Administrator

Paste these 2 cmds in the cmd prompt window

sc config Schedule start= auto
sc start Schedule

Reboot and see if it runs

This issue now seems fixed in latest Insider preview Build 10525
Latest release to ALL on or after Nov 2 unless delayed again

then try to open Store or any of the default apps, does it open?  If not, adding "ALL APPLICATION PACKAGES" group to C:\Program Files\WindowsApps will usually allow the app to open again as I've been testing this in different scenario after doing a in-place upgrade install.  Cortana and Search doesn't count as those are located in C:\Windows\SystemApps and run using .exe files.

Have that on right click
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\runas]
@="Take Ownership"

Can't  I've uninstalled everything MS from my Start  except Store

7
C:\Program Files\WindowsApps needs ALL APPLICATION PACKAGES to run the modern default apps or else the apps will just immediately close.
Not sure what you talking about. I've uninstalled most them including Cortana and Search2
That is a protected dir though although I will be looking into it.
This win 10 is a nightmare compared to previous

Then go take a break. A lot of us run 90 to nothing and I'm the same way. Just have to keep up with things that provide for your family and that's most important.
You're in Timeout right now

Tweaking.com Support & Help / Win 10 restore issues Registry Backup
« on: October 25, 2015, 12:11:34 am »
Is it my extreme remove W10 privacy junk or anyone else seeing this?

Been using your Tweaking.com - Registry Backup program awhile with Win 7 and it worked flawless

Noticed this the other day. Windows 10 and tried again tonight

1. Did a restore using Registry Backup and the Start button would not work, can right click on it and still get list, right click on anything in taskbar like File Explorer list was not giving me recent.

2. Did a normal system restore to a point and MS is even messed up.
Start and right click all work even on taskbar but my pinned items in Start were gone. Only things left were some of the Store Apps, I only have Store and 2 items in there from Store

I do go to the extreme though, I have uninstalled everything MS on the Start menu including Cortana and Search2. Just Store left and 2 apps I use. Yeah I don't care for all their privacy issues. I have been attempting to track where or what they doing with the Start when you pin or unpin but nothing I try captures where they storing that. Am a developer myself and want to figure out how to pin my app without it being a Store item.

Apparently the Reg Backup and even MS restore not tracking that Start menu either
I wait on it each time to do normal backup. Might try using Fallback? Or maybe try under system account

I'm not lost though, have my Acronis images I can restore
