2
Windows 7 Home Premium
Product Part No.: X15-37379
Installed from 'OEM' media.
Product ID: 00359-OEM-8992687-00010  match to CD Key data
CD Key:

I have 64 bit.  Can you tell which of these numbers is the microsoft key?

Shane,
Which of the many ISO files do I download?  Is there a charge for this?

4
1. If I have the disk to do the repair, how does the ISO file happen and why do I have to burn a dvd? Confused.
2. Will my pictures, music, video, program files be affected?

Shane:
It would seem we are now going in circles.  Earlier today I sent you a link to a solution to the problem of the missing "Windows modules Installer".  It involves playing with the registry and includes terms I'm not familiar with.  I asked if instead, there is a software solution..download a new windows modules installer.
Willy 2 replied by sending me a link to a solution which involves modifying the registry and by the way is the same exact solution I sent you this morning, for which I'm still not qualified to attempt.
SFC /SCANNOW does not work on my pc, nor does your program which I'm guessing does the same thing.

So, now I know after 5 years what is preventing updates and service packs from being installed on my pc.  The question is do you think you can help me?

solution to restoring windows modules installer.

Can't I download software that will restore it?

7
just tried to use system file checker in your repair program, it would not work.  something about system resource

Shane,  while not being able to sleep thinking about this problem, it seemed to me that my pc is missing an important something... a driver, software...something.
Did some reading on helpful websites, came up with running the utility sfc /scannow.  It failed would not run.  So, I googled that problem and it led me to "Windows Modules Installer",
which then led me to this:  Error 126: Windows modules Installer cannot be found.  It also said without it you cannot install updates, service packs etc.
See the attachment, their solution.

Messing with the registry is beyond my knowledge.

9
ok I can do that.
What about this "safe Mode" you mentioned?  What's that about?

10
Shane,

The results of the combofix is attached.
I don't know how to read it.

11
Shane, I really appreciate your help.  For 77 I think I'm pretty good at solving problems on my PC.  I don't understand the bit about safe mode or the abbreviations, so I ask what do I do about safe mode??
The readyness tool from microsoft was downloaded and ran according to  your instructions as well as your repair software.  Did not help.
I downloaded and ran 64 bit SP1,  I guess 6 or 7 times over the past few years as well as the other day.  It has never installed.
BITT is running.

I don't know what part of win 7 searches for updates and then downloads them, but I'm lacking that software or its turned off.

12
how do I do that?  WU    WR   safe mode?

13
service BITS running in background.  What is WU & WR???? no one mentioned this before.
The driver file HP is missing.
I did all the steps twice in your repair

14
O.M.G. ? What does that mean?
Is that the best you can offer?

15
The service pack would not install.  I have tried many times over the years, but always the same. Cannot install any microsoft stuff.

16
windows 7 home premium.  No SP1.  I have not been able to download this or any other microsoft.

17
Shane, thanks for trying.  I followed instructions, but it did not work.  I cannot find or install updates.

18
I have an HP computer with win 7 6.1 installed.
I used your repair disk, no help.
Windows will not search for updates (error 80080005)
When updates arrive, rarely,  from microsoft, they will not install.
Microsoft over the years has been of no help, same with HP.
Performed a clean boot this morning and tried again, same problem.
