.zip? these files are .bkp...............    I loaded the backup program and tried to restore the files. I get all the icons on desktop, and the programs show under the "programs" list, but when clicked I get the "the program to which this shortcut refers to is missing........... or such message.....

The windows back up program supplied with XP's value added.

"You will need to find a tool to extract the files out of the backup file you created "
 Thanks a lot Shane! lol
I have two backups both are from XP, one is a image of all system, programs etc. The other is just docs and settings. Do you know where I might find such a program?

Backed up on an external Seagate; have a image of everything, and a backup of documents and settings. (windows .bkp.) I have loaded the backup program in XP, but don't know how to load it in vista.

7
 Slower than a herd of turtles.............. Anywho.. I did a clean install of xp and a clean install of vista on a second partition. The only trouble I am having now is trying to restore my settings and documents.

No I uninstalled it before I purchased Malwarebytes. :)
It us mostly running okay; but firefox take a long time to load now. I had to reinstall google chrome. Something about some files were missing.

I should add this is a Dell dimension B110; with 1 gig memory with a Celeron 2.53. A rather ancient 'puter, but functional. I was running Avast! free.   I am NOW running Malwarebytes pro.
Shane advised me several months ago to reload Windows, but I haven't yet because I know how much time it takes to reinstall my programs and bring them up to date.

Can anyone help me with a combofix log file? my computer running XP home sp3 started running very slow and my AV would not update, nor could I get on the internet without going into safe mode.
I downloaded combofix and ran it after several days of trying to fix this problem in other manners. (superantispyware, malwarebytes; avast!)  Combofix repaired the problem; (I think) but the log file is something I don't understand.

Awhile back; Shane was helping me get my computers back  He gave me instructions on how to change my internet connection speed. Now I have used the XPsp3 disk to do a clean install on my laptop.
My connection speed is 11 mbps when it used to be 54 mbps.  How do I change it back???

 Hi Shane; I just downloaded v1.3 on my other computer to repair what v1.1 broke.    When installing v1.3 I get two error messages: 1. ........ cannot open psexec.exe 2. ...... cannot open regini.exe. How do I get around this. I thought it was a bad download; but I tried again with the same results
