General Computer Support / Issue with windows 10 explorer
« on: April 16, 2021, 09:46:09 pm »
Hi,
After my last effort to fix windows explorer, it got to the point I had to send my PC in for repairs and reinstall windows 10. However, I still seem to have a problem with windows explorer. If I open any file and then right-click, windows explorer freezes and I have to restart it.

I booted my PC in Safe Mode and windows explorer seems to work fine.

Can anyone suggest how I can find out what is causing this issue and rectify it?

Thank you,
Denis

For some reason, the issue has decided to fix itself. Windows issues some sort of update today and I am wondering if the issues have something to do with a previous update a few days earlier.

Hi Boggin,

Thank you for your reply. I have tried both those CMD commands and it did not rectify the issue. It seems I will have to do the media install option which is a pain as I lose some of my apps and programs I think.

I have no idea why this issue started, but it seemed to start after a Windows 10 update a few days ago.

Hi, I am hoping someone can help me, please? Every time I open a folder and then click on a file in the folder, windows explorer freezes, and I  have to keep restarting it. However, that does not rectify the issue and it just keeps happening.

I have Google to find solutions, but every solution that I have tried does not work. What else can I do to fix this issue?

Thank you,
Denis

Hi Tom,
I will do that. I did not lose any personal stuff. I only had to re-install the software programs. All my other files and documents are fine.

Hi Tom,

I finally gave up trying to fix my PC after I went back to a restore point and after that I could not even get my computer to boot at all. I took it in for repairs and it turned out the issue was they cleaned and reseated the ram and re-installed Windows. I am in the process of installing my programs. Thanks for the help you did offer.

Hi Tom,
I have the exact same version of win 10 as you. I started up in safe mode and I could do the adwclearner okay, but could not get the
ESET Security to rum. So I am running it now on normal boot up. The security scan did not find anything.

SMB1.0/CIFS File sharing support was not checked.

I'm wondering if there could be an issue with a recent Windows 10 update that is causing the issue. This issue started suddendly a few days ago.

« on: May 03, 2020, 01:48:05 pm »
Hi Tom,
Yesterday it got into advanced repair and attempted a 'startup repair'. After a while, it said it could not repair the start-up. I then downloaded the Window
10 ISO and did a 'repair install' which took hours.

After that completed, it still took 6:30 minutes from when I hit the start button and when the login screen appeared.

This morning I went to the task manager and disabled everything and re-started and it still took 6:30 minutes to get to the login screen.

I then accessed the System Configuration, ticked the Hide all Microsoft services and Disabled all. It then took 9:10 minutes to get to the login screen.

So, now I am at a loss as what else to do.

Thanks for your help so far, Tom.

Denis

Hi Tom,
Thank you for your suggestion. I am downloading the install media. I am hoping I will be able to rectify this slow boot-up time. I timed it this morning and it took 6:30 minutes from when I pushed the start button till it got the login screen.

Hi,
I am hoping someone can help. For the last two days, my PC is taking about 15 to boot up to get to the log in screen. It usually only takes less than a minute or so.

I have tried using the CMD commands: DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth and sfc /scannow as administrator. I have also checked for viruses. I have also just run Tweaking repair, but the issue has not changed.

Once I log in my PC seems to be performing as normal

Any help would be appreciated.

Denis

Hi Boggin,

Thanks for your reply. I copied and installed the same file on my laptop and it installed with no problems. So, it does seem to be something on my PC that is causing the issue.

I have been to the link you provided. This was their reply:
Dear Denis,

Thank you for contacting Mindjet Support. I would suggest using out offline installer for the MindManager software. Here is the link for the 32-bit and 64-bit build:

32-bit https://mindjet.com/go/MindManager-2018-32
64-bit https://mindjet.com/go/MindManager-2018-64

If you are still unable to install the software I would recommend having your local IT assist with the install.

If you need further assistance, simply reply to this email or give us a call.

Best regards,

Juan Acevedo

This was an earlier reply:
Hi Denis

Think this relates to a permissions error with your Microsoft system.

Please ensure you have full permissions to the application folder as well as the user library.

Please update the access rights of the directories mentioned below and allow your Windows user account to have the required rights.

All components are installed on Program file under Mindjet folder and Application Folder

User data:C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Mindjet\MindManager\18

Application folder:

64-bit:C:\Program Files (x86)\Mindjet\MindManager 18

Or

Create another user profile and install the application.

Best regards
Patrick

General Computer Support / Keep getting warning 1909 and error 2902
« on: April 23, 2018, 09:53:48 pm »
Hi, I am hoping someone can help, please? I am trying to install an upgrade MindManager 18. I have tried over a dozen times, some just straight out install and as Administrator, but each time I get "Warning 1909. Could not create shortcut Mindjet Mindmanager 2018.Ink. Verify that the destination folder exists and that you can access it".

The second message I get is "Error 2902. Operation ixo ShortcutPropertyCreate called out of sequence".

This is the only program that I have had any problem installing. I have also run tweaking.com pro to see if that would fix the issue, but no luck.

I believe I have full admin rights as best as I can tell. I do not want to create a new user is I can really avoid it.

Any help in solving this issue would be appreciated.

My system is Windows 10 64bit and I have the latest updates installed.

Thank you,
Denis

Hi Boggin and Admin,

I think I have resolved the issue. It seems to be an issue with Window Update. I found an issue there and resolved it. Audacity said the issue was definitely nothing to do with Audacity and something to do with Windows.

Thanks for all the help and suggestions.

Hi Boggin,

All the side by side errors are the same and relate to a program Audacity. Not sure what to do about this as I use this program frequently. Below is what the error says:

Activation context generation failed for "C:\Program Files (x86)\Audacity\audacity.exe".Error in manifest or policy file "" on line . A component version required by the application conflicts with another component version already active. Conflicting components are:. Hi Boggin,

Thanks for your reply. I just completed Permissions repair, but it did not resolve the issue. I had a look at the Event Viewer, but I don't really understand what I am looking at

21
Hi,

I am hoping someone can identify why I keep having this issue of images not loading in Outlook 365 and data not loading in my weather app.

If I run tweaking Windows repair, it fixes the issue, but I would like to know what is causing it and if there is a simple way of fixing it other than running tweaking Windows repair.

I have Windows 10 and as far as I know, all latest updates are installed on my PC.

Thank you

Hi,
I am hoping someone can help with this issue:

My operating system is Windows 10 64bit system

When I run the tweaking repair program, it goes to safe mode and then I get the message "This app can't open using built in administrator account, sign in with a different account".

I tried to do this but nothing seems to work

Can someone help me to overcome this issues please?

Hi again Boggin,

I followed your instructions, but it did not improve my boot time. I timed it and it took 5 min 45 sec to get to the login screen. There was nothing unusual in the start up. I am at a loss as to what to do to rectify this.
