General Computer Support / Reset Windows 8 passwords

Just curious how do you guys reset a local and live account passwords on windows 8. The live account seems like its only possible to do via microsoft's website, but what if a client has no idea of the password or retrieval info? Is there a way to remove the password from the machine itself or even overwrite the password?

General Computer Support / unable to install vista service packs
« on: September 09, 2013, 01:42:24 pm »
So I have a new hdd in an hp desktop that came with vista ultimate. os restored with a few glitches. (i had to make the partition active and run bootrec/scannos for windows to load up and continue with hp recovery installing apps etc) Problem is everytime I install the service pack it restarts saying reverting changes, I did the full windows repair aio with no luck. Since its a brand new hdd and os restore im thinking it has to do with the hdd being an advanced format and or the storage drivers needs updating. Thoughts and experiences would be welcome:)

General Computer Support / Re: Windows defender deleting files downloaded

Thank you guys again. i will try this as soon as i run into this problem again. I was using malwarebytes anti-rootkit to fix these problems. After the program runs it has a plugin (fixdamage.exe) that auto runs sometimes or can be manually launched. it seems to do the trick as well as fix broken services windows updates etc.

Nice. glad u figured it out. it was driving me nuts here. Also noticed it messes with windows updates although this may just be unrelated and the pc had more infections .......

Hi guys, i recently cleaned up some malware off of a friend's pc. now every file I download with internet explorer is being flagged as a virus and deleted. I uninstalled the av(kaspersky) still no luck. Research showed its windows defender but I have no clue how to fix this. Also it may be related to zeroaccess. im almost certain no rootkits etc exists. i used malwarebytes, kaspersky, panda and webroot to scan.
