General Computer Support / HD replacement
« on: June 28, 2016, 11:33:27 pm »
Hi everybody!

I must replace my laptop's hard drive because it is not possible to boot with it anymore.
So, I remembered an advice I got some time ago from Shane, I bought a Samsung SSD ( they are cheaper now). As I had a previous Macrium Reflect image from my C: partition, being this the first time this situation is happening to me, I replaced the hard drive, and tried to boot from the Macrium Linux CD; however  the new drive was not detected.
So, which is the best way to get this done?

General Computer Support / Getting no updates
« on: January 29, 2016, 08:47:12 am »
Hi everybody

After some trouble in booting my notebook (Vista Home Premium), I restored the OS using a Macrium image I had burnt in June 2015.
Done that some days ago, it still doesn't get any updates from Microsoft. Windows Update says there are no updates and that the computer is up-to-date.  I ran tweaking.com to correct any fault that could be in Windows Update but it didn't work.
I had restored this computer the same way a few times before, and updates were almost immediatly available as the restoring operation was finished.
What shall I do?

General Computer Support / Notebook freezes
« on: March 19, 2015, 06:29:50 am »
Hi everybody!

My notebook works on a Vista Home Premium 32 bit OS.
About once a fortnight it gets in a stalling condition, since long ago: clock freezes, cursor doesn't move, HD light doesn't blink; if this condition starts when sound was beeing produced, sound freezes too (it keeps a continuous sound on); this situation can not be modified by keyboard neither by mouse, even doing Ctrl+Alt+Del. The only signal of life remaining is fan revving.
All I'm left to do is energy button pressing for a few seconds to switch off and restart.
What's the cause of this and what can be done to prevent it from happening?
Thanks

Hi, everybody.
I have a problem for a long time now: my notebook, when starting, shows a message box saying something like (trying to translate from portuguese) "Windows host process (Rundll32) stopped working. Windows will close the program and warn you whether there is an available solution". It doesn't show the solution, so he hasn't one.
My OS is 32 bit Vista Home Premium.
Is this something that the tweaking.com program can fix? Somebody help me, please!
