General Computer Support / Hard drive not showing up
« on: June 21, 2016, 12:12:59 pm »
Good day.

I recently removed my computer drives - master and slave- when i went on holiday. I put the system back in order and recently noticed my slave drive has not shown up in "My Computer" list. I tried swapping the ribbon cables with no changes. So i swapped the position of both drives in case it was the power cable. Both are SATA so they use the same power cable. But still no changes. I removed the slave drive (F Drive) and placed it into an external caddie and booted up. It started to install driver for it and is running fine from there.

I can not run it from that location for a number of reasons i can not go into right here. So after that, i re installed it into the PC and still no change. It simply does not exist. I have run the boot set up on startup and it is not listed there. It is simply a ghost to the PC.

Any ideas what it could be or how i could sort this issue out?

Also, in hardware profiles under show hidden drives, it is listed and clicking this states it is not connected.

Thank you in advance.

General Computer Support / Net Framework root out
« on: November 14, 2015, 09:07:29 am »
Hi, I have posted on this prior but that post can not be found even by search, so i need to request the right tools for this job for Shane as he knows what the issue is already.  All the usual methods to rip out the files does nothing except mess the system up. The whole lot needs to come out and re installed. Nothing else has worked so far.

Thank's.

General Computer Support / Reinstall Win7 without deleting programs
« on: May 29, 2015, 06:11:04 am »
Hello.
I need to reinstall windows 7 on my Dell Inspiron 620 without deleting my programs but do not recall how to do this correctly. I have done it before and it kept the system as it was before i installed fresh. I have to Disc to do this but it is only giving the option to "Install" with a Win7 screen. Shane guided me through this last time. I re booted with disc in drive but nothing happens and f12 is just the bios so f8 would be the only other to try but i never did this before. I just want a fresh OS without installed programs being effected .

Thank you.

General Computer Support / Curious Update Request.
« on: August 17, 2014, 08:25:30 am »
Hola. I return with more needs  :cheesy:

Nothing too deep. I keep getting hassle from a box opening that asks me to update Microsoft Office (Which i never use) and it is doing it even when i am working with my studio hardware and software. It will not go away and because it is not downloading via the standard method that windows uses, i feel it to be suspect and refuse to click "OK" I run Microsoft essentials then ADWCleaner and after a few minuets, it popped up again (See Photo)
I have had an Office Update via the standard method for updates because i have looked in the log, thus i feel this is a little curious.

Any ideas if this is Legit or should i try and seek it out and destroy it ?

Thank's.

Mike.

General Computer Support / Programs not running
« on: July 15, 2014, 07:01:46 pm »
Hello..... Again.

I recently decided to play Max Payne as it has been a good few months since i last played and after clicking the icon, the pointer wheel turns blue for a few seconds and then nothing  else happens. I also have Max Payne 2 and this is doing the same thing.
I have Splinter Cell 1 , 2 and 3 and they are working so it is not anything to do with graphics settings and the like.

Max Payne runs from and App called Steam and when i click "Play" from Steam i get nothing. If i try to close Steam (Exit it) i get a message telling me to close Max Payne first. Or, if i try to run Max v2 from desktop then try to run Max v1 from Steam, Steam thinks Max 2 is running. Clearly, something is being executed and is running or at least reports as running. I have run malware killers and system check many times. I have run All In One Windows repair but selected only to fix File Association because i am not sure what t he other issue could be.

Max 2 is NOT an installed program . It can be run on ANY system from anywhere. Even from a data stick. Wherever you click the EXE from, it will start and it is on a slave drive so i copy the whole content to my program files folder and try from there. Still nothing.

There may be an issue with other  programs but so far, i have not found any.

Any ideas ?

Thank you in advance.

General Computer Support / Camera is not being found
« on: March 11, 2014, 01:59:14 am »
Hello.

I have an issue that ostensibly may seem superficial to some but is a major issue for me and as a Producer, DJ and i run a record label as well as running music based tutorials.

My Webcam stopped working with Adobe Flash media Encoder some time back and after assuming the camera was broken, i tested it with my lap top and found it worked fine. Yet i went out and bought a new one. The issue is quite strange because i have tried every sort of application outside of Adobe and none are finding the Web Cam. YES! i HAVE deleted the drivers and re-installed them. About 25 times. I installed the software that came with the web cam and even that does not find it as being connected. YES! i have tried different USB ports. I have run AWD Cleanrer and Tweeking Computer Windows fix - Twice. YES! The camera is listed in device manager and is listed in hardware profiles. Some of the symptoms smell of malware :

If i go online to my Livestream account studio, there is a tab that allows me to access my camera remotely and link it to the server (Like you would with a web cam site) and when i click it, it asks to allow or deny, after which i get a message saying the camera is being used by another application. I have run Procaster and it lists as "No Cam Found" Adobe has the camera listed but does not initialize it and simply restores itself to default profile settings. I have tried photo editors to find the Web Cam and nothing is listed (Found).

I have un-installed Adobe twice and re installed. No luck. I have posted on Bleeping Computer some weeks ago now and after the usual advice like "Make sure the camera is plugged in" i have not got any further. I do note this happened the following day after buying and installing McAfee AV and have read something about it causing a registry file that stops the camera from working but i have no idea what i would be looking for and do not want to mess with the system. It could be a Direct X error and a Kernal Error or corrupted file but unless i knew what one it may be, i have no other way to fix this which i have not already tried.

I could try to run combi fix but i doubt anything of this sort is going to fix the issue. I feel it will need a manual fix. Even if McAfee is to blame, removing that does not mean the issue will be fixed if it has cause one. It requires knowledge of what could be wrong and the files associated with this problem and fixing from there. I can not do live shows any more and station owners are starting to get annoyed. My own station has stopped and i can not link up with other producers and run tutorials any more - it is driving my crazy!

Please, if anyone can assist, i would really appreciate it a lot .

Thank you .
