Tweaking.com Support & Help / [SOLVED]Windows Repair Pro 3.9.26
« on: March 11, 2017, 04:29:55 pm »
Hello, I installed WRPro 3.9.26 on my W8.1 converted to W10 laptop and it runs fine. I then attempted to install it on my wife's W7 converted to W10 desktop and it failed with a decompression error as seen in the enclosed screen grab. I was going to install it on my W10 desktop but refrained in case it failed on that. I cannot even re-install the previous WRPro 3.9.25 onto her computer as now a decompression occurs with that too.
Can anyone shed light on what has happened. Thanks.

General Computer Support / [SOLVED]Realtek Audio Driver
« on: February 24, 2017, 04:40:37 pm »
Hello All, I bought a new desktop early part of last year which came with W10 installed. It only has three sound connections, these being pink for mic, green for speakers and a blue one. I have a Cambridge DTT 2020 sound system with 5.1 speaker units. There are three sound input leads on the sub woofer  unit, one for Speakers front, one for speakers rear and one for the sub woofer. The computer came with a Realtek audio driver which would have allowed me to reconfigure the rear mic socket and the rear blue sockets for the rear speakers and the sub woofer unit. I think it was the install of the W10 anniversary update that caused the driver to be replaced with the Microsoft HD audio driver and this will not allow me to reconfigure the two audio connections. Is it possible to replace the MS HD audio driver with the Realtek audio driver on the MSI disc that came with the computer. Thanks.

General Computer Support / Replace WLM 2011 with WLM 2012
« on: December 28, 2016, 09:40:12 am »
Hello ALL, my wife has WLM 2011 on her updated from W7 to W10 computer and I would like to replace it with WLM 2012. Is it a straight overwrite or a different procedure? I am not worried losing all the custom folders as I can remake them afresh. I would also ensure that all folders content are backed up to her external USB HDD by using MailStore before the changeover. Thanks.

General Computer Support / W10 update+SYSTEM_DRV (SOLVED)
« on: July 27, 2016, 03:36:51 am »
Hello All, yesterday I updated my W8.1  laptop to W10 so knew how to to handle certain problems having bought a new Desktop with W10 installed 2 months ago. This morning I noticed a new item on the This PC page, this being SYSTEM_DRV( G:) and consisting of a FAT32 256 MB capacity with 27.9 MB used and Acces Denied. I was able to scan the content with Avast free and although the files flashed by they were prefixed with "Microsoft Boot".  Going back to yesterday the Action Center on booting up and restarting kept telling me that three components were not compatible and therefore uninstalled. Today it no longer declares this so I am wondering if the SYSTEM_DRV unit has rectified it.

General Computer Support / Drive seen as RAW (SOLVED)
« on: June 15, 2016, 03:14:44 pm »
Hi All, last December one of my external USB hdds must have been affected when a power cut last year zapped my desktop computer. I bought a new one, W10, last month and today I decided to connect the external USB HDDs that had been connected to the zapped one and found that one of them had altered to a RAW state. I can see it in Disk Management but clicking on the icon in This PC results it saying the drive needs formatting to be able to use it. I don't want to do this as I need to access the data on it. I Googled to find an answer and came across a free version of EaseUS Data Recovery that apparently will process 2 GB of data. I think there must be about 1.5 GB or so on the drive and wonder if anyone has actually used the free version and found it to work. Your input will be appreciated. Thanks

General Computer Support / Error 43
« on: February 29, 2016, 03:59:18 pm »
Hello All, my Acer desktop died but my sanity was saved by being bought a Lenovo laptop with W8.1. I ordered a couple of USB 2.0 Sata 3.5 HDD enclosures to house the two 640 GB HDDs from the tower of the Acer. The enclosures arrived today but the result of connecting them to the laptop results in error 43 and the USB hub in device manager shows a yellow exclamation mark. Upon connecting them to my wife's W7 Acer computer they are recognized and show the contents of the drives. Can anyone offer advice please.

General Computer Support / Mouse is unknown device SOLVED
« on: February 22, 2016, 02:43:15 am »
Hello All, I have a Lenovo laptop and although it has a key to turn off the touch pad it reverts back to touch pad use after a restart or fresh boot up so I went into mouse settings to switch off the touch pad when a mouse is connected. This has been working perfectly since obtaining the laptop in December of last year.  Twice in the last 2 days a panel has popped up saying that a recently connected usb device is unknown and not recognized by Windows. The only device connected is the mouse and upon receiving this message the mouse light goes out and becomes inoperable. Unplugging the mouse and inserting it again resolves the problem but I cannot understand why the problem occurs as it can happen after a few hours of use. The mouse is a standard one and did not come with a driver disk. Thanks for any info.

Everything Else / Low Level Formatting
« on: January 02, 2016, 04:44:02 am »
Hello all. I low level formatted a TDK 16gb usb stick which resulted in it being shown having zero capacity. Removing the stick and inserting it again results in my being told it need to be formatted so I again low level formatted it, removed it, inserted it again and again received the message it needs to be formatted. Is there a cure? Thanks in advance.

Everything Else / Advice Please on W8.1
« on: November 22, 2015, 03:25:13 pm »
Hello all, a few days ago I received an unexpected present but have been ordered that I can unwrap it and have a look but cannot use it until the 1st. Of December which is my 80th birthday. As a result I have been Googling for advice and info but will appreciate any feedback from you based on your experiences and advice. The present is a Lenovo Notebook LN G50-30 N2480 8gb 1TB 8M with 15.6 screen and 8.1 OS. I will use it basically for graphic work. I have read various info re upgrading to W10 but do not fancy that just yet due to its infancy but would probably do so as the free update period nears expiration. I was contemplating, if affordable, to have W7 installed but do not know when Microsoft will pull the plug on that OS. I have read about the SuperFish adware crap but do not know if it is installed. I intend to also uninstall any existing free trial stuff and offers and install AV of my choice. Thank you.

General Computer Support / Canon Pixma MP600 printer problem
« on: September 12, 2015, 05:39:39 pm »
Hello all, although not a computer problem I would like feedback of the problem I am experiencing. Yesterday my prints have commenced being printed with a light tinted band approx. 1 cm wide and approx. 1 cm up from the bottom of prints. Although the monitor images do not show such problem I rotated an image 180% therefore printing it upside down and the tinted band appeared on the print in the same position. This points to a printer problem. I always use original inks and high quality gloss paper. I have carried out all the steps regarding deep cleaning cycle and inkjet alignment etc. to no avail. Could the fault be a print head malfunction as the printer is some 5 years old. I have altered the contrast and density of the enclosed scanned example to try and emphasize the fault for easier viewing. Thanks.

Hello, I am using an Acer mainframe installed with Vista Home Premium 32 bit and IE9.
Today I installed 19 MS security updates but I am being notified by the update icon on the taskbar that there are 4 updates ready for download and installation. These 4 are being presented again and again for action regardless. Here is the rundown:

Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5, 4.5.1 and 4.5.2 on Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 x86 (KB3023224)

Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5, 4.5.1 and 4.5.2 on Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 x86 (KB3035490)

Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5, 4.5.1 and 4.5.2 on Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 x86 (KB3048077)

Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5, 4.5.1 and 4.5.2 on Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 x86 (KB3037581)

This last one has been recycling to be installed since 14th March this year.

Update history shows all 4 updates as being successfully installed.

Belarc shows KB3037581 as a missing security file since it's install of 14th March and also today.

The first 3 files, although being recycled for installation are not shown by Belarc as missing security files. Thanks.

General Computer Support / Nexus Ultimate runing with high privileges
« on: March 12, 2015, 03:21:20 pm »
I could not open my original query as it has been locked. This is for Gamezertruth who has the same problem which pops up a panel asking if one wishes to exit the program and call it up again as this will resolve the errors caused by running it with high privileges. I do not know how my one got hooked but I recently was looking through task scheduling on another purpose and have resolved the problem. Prior to this I had checked the program files to ensure that the administrator box was unticked but the problem remained regardless. Back to Task Scheduling. I selected Task Scheduler Library, selected DelayedItemsbyChemtableSoftware (I had recently installed this program to see the times allocated to programs that loaded on startup), rmb clicked on each Nexus-Ultimate file and selected properties and unticked the box that said Run with Highest Privileges and selected OK. The popup does not now appear. Gamezertruth may not have the Chemtable link but he should be able to find the appropriate link in Task Viewer Library to resolve the issue.

General Computer Support / Vista Startup problems
« on: January 27, 2015, 02:11:46 pm »
Hello Shane, I had made notes on the various sequences I have used in starting up Vista. These include stopwatched stages. I also have repair log results, cbs.log results, chkdsk.log results and performance event logs of what happens in starting and closing down Vista. Rather than display them here and therefore taking up screen space would you rather I zipped them under one folder for you to look at and then you could then decide what to show if need be? Thanks.

General Computer Support / Adverts appearing on the forum
« on: January 16, 2015, 08:57:08 pm »
Hello Shane, one of the adverts is linked to ZWinky. I have run Superantispyware and Avast Free , scanned the registry etc and still getting the adverts. More of a pest but don't recall how it occurred. I have unchecky installed and I do check and decline attachments to a downloaded file if I do not want them. WOT shows the Zwinky site as being iffy. Thanks.

General Computer Support / W7 Taskbar Icons
« on: January 15, 2015, 02:04:22 pm »
Hello all, on patch Tuesday 13th I installed the microsoft security files and the .net framework 4.5.2 file onto my wife's W7 Home Premium 64 bit computer. Prior to these updates icons set as "show icons and notifications" appeared as such in the taskbar. After the updates they now get automatically set as "only show notifications" and are found in the box upon clicking on the small triangle on the taskbar. Resetting back to the first setting ensures they appear in the taskbar but only to disappear again on a restart /bootup. I think it may be something to do with the .net Framework file but do not want to uninstall it as there are no previous versions available to fall back on as I think that W7 deletes previous versions when updating to a higher version. I Googled the problem but cannot find information on how to get the required icons to stay in the taskbar. Upon installing the Vista 32 bit counterpart updates onto my computer the icons on my taskbar remain as per before the updates. Has anyone experienced taskbar icons disappearing after Tuesday 13th updates?

General Computer Support / Nexus Ultimate
« on: December 18, 2014, 06:34:52 pm »
I have the paid version of Nexus Ultimate installed on an Acer desktop with Vista Home Premium 32 bit. Upon boot up a panel, appears see screen grab, which advises me to exit the program and run it again, which I do via a shortcut. I was wondering if anyone has had the same problem and can offer a solution. The program's support service has not responded to my queries and I have also joined the forum hoping for an answer. Although my query has been read 118 times to date I have not has a response from anyone on the forum. I have tried running the program as administrator but that just recycles the advice to exit the program and run it again over and over again. I also tried TweakUAC but that did not resolve the issue. Any advice please?
