General Computer Support / Connecting computer to TV via HDMI
« on: August 09, 2016, 11:32:11 am »
I have not been able to connect my Dell XPS laptop to the TV using HDMI cable since upgrading from Win7 to Win10.

After posting the above, I decided to ReStart the computer with the HDMI cable attached.  I now get video on the TV but no sound.  When I click on Sound and Playback devices; I see the message AMD HDMI Output Not Plugged In.

General Computer Support / Windows 10 Critical Error
« on: December 03, 2015, 12:46:25 pm »
I turned my Dell XPS 1640 laptop on and eventually received the following Windows 10 error message.

Critical Error

Start menu and Cortana aren't working. We'll try to fix it the next time you sign in.

I signed in again and again only to receive the same error.  I then tried booting into safe mode and running Tweak.com 3.7.  I tried to run Repairs and the pre-scan cmd came up and nothing happened.  I let it sit for about an hour.

I have a backup image dated 11.20.2015 and a windows 7 64bit repair cd.  After booting from the CD it did not find the image.

I am out of ideas.  You are my first stop.

General Computer Support / safe mode and reparse points
« on: August 17, 2015, 08:22:01 am »
Under Windows 10, when I click on Tweaking ReBoot in Safe Mode, it reboots in safe mode without networking.

The attached "reparse points.pdf" file shows 4 reparse points that when I click repair, don't get repaired.

General Computer Support / WINDOWS LIVE MAIL 2012
« on: July 12, 2015, 01:29:35 pm »
After running "tweak repair" or "system tweaks", I started getting the following error when executing "Windows Live Mail 2012" on my Windows 7 laptop:

"Initialization of RSS feed support failed. RSS feeds could not be updated."

Do you have any ideas?

Thank you

Bill
