Found the log file.  Saw the following entries
The Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) service could not be started.  The service did not report an error. Started and then stopped
 Running Repair Under System Account
Running Repair Under Current User Account
The Volume Shadow Copy service is not started.  The Microsoft Software Shadow Copy Provider service is not started. Started - Start up manual
Running Repair Under System Account The Virtual Disk service is not started.  Started - Start Up - Manual
The Block Level Backup Engine Service service is not started.  Started - Start Up Manual
 Running Repair Under Current User Account
The Volume Shadow Copy service is not started.
 Running Repair Under System Account The Virtual Disk service is not started.
The Block Level Backup Engine Service service is not started.

The first time I ran it I forgot to disable my virus (Avast free) so I disabled that and ran it again.  Might be why there are double entries.  Are the settings for any of these wrong?  Should any be automatic?  Thanks for your help!

One of the steps prior to running the program was to create a restore point and back up the registry.  It made a restore point and backed up the registry.  I see the  back up listed.  Still no restore points even though one was created.  I actually went through all the steps as suggested.

I ran the beta.  Did a restore point and backup first as directed.  Still no restore points listed.  No log file that I could find either.

The slide is set at 15%, disk space used 0%.  As I wrote I can make restore points no problem.  If I install some programs it sets a restore point but I have no restore points except a system image restore point that says it's a backup.  My windows back up doesn't work either.  I just found this site so thought one of your programs might work but as I have no restore points I don't want to take a chance on something that I can't undo.

I can create restore points but they don't show.  My only restore point is a system image  restore point I made when I bought my laptop.  Under configure it shows disk space usage at 0 bytes.  Will the beta repair system restore program fix this problem?  BTW I can't make backups also.  I back up to an external drive.  Using windows7 64 bit.  Thanks.
