Did you reinstall the audio driver as I'd suggested for the audio manager settings to retain ?

sorry but i can't remember if i did...............i think i tried but failed ?.................anyway, i turned off the pc and turn on again and surprisingly, the EQ settings were saved..............

many thanks anyway ! :cheesy:

2
So was that after reinstalling the audio driver ?

I log out of emails and forums when I'm done, so that is quite normal for me.

the logging problems came about after i cloned my SSD...............looks like i gotta live with it..........

3
i shut down my pc last night and today, seems that the equalizer settings have been saved...............

but still need to log in to email, forums, etc.............

well, at least the EQ issues seems ok now...........better than nothing

4
many thanks, bro...................i'll try it out in a few days............thanks again !

This article may help explain the operation of TRIM which may/not be specific to Win 10 - https://www.tenforums.com/performance-maintenance/77467-calling-ssd-users-what-does-your-optimise-window-show.html

As for the Realtek, it may be worth reinstalling the Realtek Audio driver to see if that makes any difference.

many thanks for the info..............how do i reinstall the Realtek driver anyway (do i need to uninstall my current one) ?............do i go to their website which is a mess ? my pc is very old (almost 9yrs old)

6
many thanks for the response............

yes, everything was fine except the Malwarebytes wasn't working even with old HDD (it's ok though, not important)

the TRIM is enabled (i've checked) but seems to be ignored by the SSD (i used HD Sentinel which said it was disabled)

i'm most bothered by the Realtek issue with the equalizer settings not saved whenever i turn off my pc........... :undecided:

hi,

couple years back, i used Tweaking to ''fix'' my Win7 after YouTube videos keep stuttering..............problem solved but my anti-malware (Malwarebytes) then no longer work (doesn't matter)............recently, i cloned my HDD to SSD and following problems came about..............

1) the PC would freeze if my mouse is connected to the USB port at rear of PC......only working when connected to the front's USB port

2) my Realtek audio software disappeared but i got it back........but the Equalizer Settings would not save my settings

3) all the saved Log-in passwords needed to be keyed in again at websites (email, facebook, etc)

lastly, did Tweaking Win7 disabled the TRIM command for Win7 (IDE mode) ?

Did you need to run the program because of other problems you were having ?

As for getting back into those websites, there's a couple of things you can try.

Boot up into Safe Mode with Networking, open the repair program and click on Step 5: Backup then on Open Registry Backup/Settings then on Registry Restore and then use the dropdown to select the registry backup and click on Restore Now.

Another is to go Start - type cmd - right click on cmd and select Run as administrator and enter these cmds -

netsh winsock reset catalog

netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt

ipconfig /flushdns

ipconfig /registerdns

shutdown /r /t 00

and then see if you can get into them after the reboot.

BTW - did you run a chkdsk /r or download HDSentinel to check your HDD ?

1) Boot up into Safe Mode with Networking, open the repair program and click on Step 5: Backup then on Open Registry Backup/Settings then on Registry Restore and then use the dropdown to select the registry backup and click on Restore Now.

[ so to do the above, i run the Repair and it'll prompt me to go to Safe Mode, right ? ]

2) so if i go to Start and type in command...........what if i made a mistake ?..........what bad things will happen ?

3) i haven't run the check on HDD yet...............run a chkdsk..........this is in the Repair All In One ?

###   GUESS WHAT............I TRIED FIREFOX AND I CAN LOG INTO MY IHERB A/C...........STILL CAN'T DO IT ON CHROME THOUGH......... :cheesy:

9
ok................just found 2 problems since doing the repair...............

1) when i click on a youtube link - i can't get to the webpage the video is on..............(minor problem)

2) i can't sign in at my iHerb.com account........even after manually typing in the email address and password........the sign-in window will not proceed.......(MAJOR problem)

so what do i do ?..............do the repair again ?

You could create a system image onto external media before having a go with that program and see how you get on.

If you aren't having any problems then there's no need to run any repair programs or commands, but some to remember are -

dism /online /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup

dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

sfc /scannow

and to check the integrity of the HDD, you can run chkdsk /r but creating regular system images when the system is okay is always a good fall back.

However, whenever I get any problems with Win 10 I'll go straight for a repair install.

i'm still using Windows 7............32 bit............

how good is the program for checking HDD integrity ?...........if a problem is detected, is it already too late ?

11
Not sure how you are getting on with this but I've recently came across this free program which may help with your colours.

https://www.wintools.info/index.php/classic-color-panel

thanks for all the trouble............but i think i'll live with the lack of colours.............rather than risk getting into more problems :cheesy:

by the way................how often should i run this Windows All In One..........every several months....?

12
Did you try changing the DNS severs as I've suggested, or are those websites loading okay now ?

yeah, they're ok now............i wouldn't know how to change DNS servers.........in fact, i don't even know what that means....... :shy:

13
well.........some of the gremlins are still around..........but i can live with them

14
there's nothing wrong physically................late last night, the loudness button worked again........... :cheesy:

many thanks for your replies !

15
thanks for the info, my earphones are fine...........perhaps i'll just need to live with it

16
i have the volume at maximum and the volume is softer than previously.................the loudness button no longer work.........in fact, the volume is slightly lower with the loudness button checked............ :cheesy:

17
just had an unexpected problem today while listening to Spotify...........i have this Realtek Audio Manager thing and normally when i click on the ''Loudness' button, the volume will go up a lot................but it made no difference today..............also the volume on Spotify seems to be lower than usual..........

18

the Facebook will display a ''time-out'' message but then will load properly very quickly so it's ok...........

basically some websites are slow to load but it solved my jittery problems with youtube and spotify .............also my Java-based FX trading platform has some problems but no more horrid lagging..........so it's ok with me...........

i just have to live with the lack of colours on some websites........and also in certain message windows.........

i tried using Firefox and websites that used to have a black background ended up with a white one........ :artist:

19
many thanks for the reply :cheesy:.............but Spotify works fine now........so i think i can live with the lack of colours.........

you were suggesting that i restore the PC to the point before i did the repair, right ?

actually, i'm not too sure about what are temp files cache.............but i always use CCleaner daily.............

20
(i'm a poor cheapskate using the FREE version of Windows Repair............also using a very crappy old PC..........and i'm a near total computer moron) :shy:

hi, i just did the repair today to fix choppy, jittery sounds on Youtube and Spotify (i noticed my CPU will spike to 100% very often)........it worked almost completely for Youtube but there's still some choppy music from Spotify..........

but the repair made certain windows and bars lose their colours..........this is especially so for Chrome.......also some websites (Facebook being one of them) will say ''Error'' before loading the page properly..........

is anything wrong ?.............what should and what can i do ?
