I am running Windows 10, Build 15063.483, the latest build on an HP 500-490 desktop. My CPU is an i3-4130 and it has 8 GB RAM.

I just noticed that there does not seem to be any activity going on ... Drive Read: "O bytes/s", Drive Write: "0 Bytes/s", Memory Used "1.59 GB", CPU Usage: 0%.  However, apparently 52 processes are going on as I type this (on another computer).

Downloaded Windows Repair Portable 4.0.0 today and have been running the repairs. At present, repair job 18, Repair Volume Shadow Copy Service is running as it has been for the last 2 hours. This repair apparently did finish one part of the repair "Decompressing & Updating windows Permission file", this part of the job taking 0.14 seconds, and now all it says is "Running Repair under Current User Account".

I've used various versions of Windows Repair for years, often running it on friends computers that need repair,  and just downloaded version 4.0.0 (portable) today and decided to run it to see if it is different than previous versions. Yes, previous versions have been slow, mostly on older computers, but the computer this is running on is quite fast.

I shall continue to allow Windows Repair run on the computer until I hear from somebody that it is safe to stop the program from running on this repair or that 2 hours is acceptable and to continue to let it run.

Thanks

Yes, version 3.9.22 (portable) also blue screens my Windows 10 preview build 15002. I doubt it's the fault of the Windows Repair software, but something added by Microsoft (not intentionally) that will not allow it to work. I suspect that the Tweaking.com guys need to look into this, as I doubt that Microsoft will make a change so that this one application will work. Of course there are no problems with the present version of Windows 10, but I suspect that the changes made in 15002 will make it into one of the Windows updates someday soon.

If the techs from tweaking.com wishes to do some testing using my computer with the preview software, a Lenovo T420 Laptop with an i7 CPU and 6 GB RAM, they are welcome to contact me. I do have the latest version of Teamviewer installed.

Thanks, Julian ... i knew something was wrong!

I now have all 7 of my computers with WR 3.95 Portable on their desktops and with the installed version uninstalled. I will write you a private message with my email address if you need to contact me directly.

It's Windows 10 Pro (10586.494). I've tried half a dozen different methods to get into Safe Mode with Networking including using the Safe Mode button on Tweaking.com Windows Repair v. 3.9.4, but my wireless adapter finds no connections once I get there. I've actually installed 3.9.5 on several machines, a couple of Lenovo Laptops and 4 different Dell Desktops, and each one gives me the missing files errors. However, I can use the portable app. So at this time, my best bet seems to be to uninstall version 3.9.5 from each computer and place the portable version somewhere on the hard drive.

Of course there is still the problem of using Tweaking.com Windows Repair in the Safe Mode without Networking ... I realize that a couple of it's tools do require networking. Still, even without the use of those specific tools, Windows Repair is fantastically useful.

But in the mean time, I suggest that Tweaking.com repair their present problem with the installed version. I'm sure lots of other folks are (or will) have the same problem as I and the fellow above that first described the problem.

33
OK, so I type in msconfig, go to the boot tab, click "safe boot" and click again "networking" . I reboot and, indeed, it goes to safe mode. However, I have no network connection.

I have seen others mention the same problem, saying that they do not have the wifi Icon in their system tray or they do have the icon, but with a with a red x. But I understand that even though this is so, the networking should be working. It was not! Safe Mode with networking does not work with my computer, a Lenovo T420 with an i7-2620M.

34
I just downloaded the installation file from Tweaking.com and get the errors there, too. Looks like, maybe, a version 3.9.6 is in the works?

35
I should have mentioned above that I also downloaded the portable version and it worked properly. I downloaded the bad installation file from majorgeeks.com.

36
I get the same message with the newly downloaded 3.9.5 ...

Thanks, Shane. I know you guys are doing a wonderful job.

Sharing violation means the setup or program tried to access the file but wasnt allowed. This is always caused by your antivirus. Disable the antivirus and install it again and you should be good

Shane
Confirmed. I did attempt to install version 3.8.3 with Windows Defender enabled and got the error message. I then disabled Windows Defender and 3.8.3 installed properly.

However, I can not mark this thread as solved until Windows Repair installs correctly with Windows Defender enabled, just as it does with Build 10560.

39
I should have mentioned above that I am now using version 3.8.3

40
I use Windows Defender on the laptop now running version Build 14271, as I do on all my computers (4 Desktops and 5 laptops). The others use the standard version of Windows 10, Build 10586.104. I only have problems installing Tweaking.com Windows Repair on the laptop using build 14271. It seems strange that Windows Defender in the Build 14271 will interfere with the installation, while it will not interfere with the computers running Build 10586.

41
Looks like a problem they will have to address. In the mean time, use the portable application.

42
When attempting to install 3.8.2 on Windows 10 Build 14257 (Preview Build), I get a "sharing violation while accessing C:\Programs Files (x86)\Tweaking.com\Windows Repair (All in One)\files\registry_backup_tool\TweakingImgCtl.ocx."

I realize that most folks do not have this build of Windows 10, but it is something you might want to take a look at, as I had the same issue with build 14251. With 14251, I was able to run the Portable version of Windows Repair, and I assume I could do so with this build, too.

OK, I have downloaded the file directly from you and .... installation in "normal" mode fails ... same error. I also downloaded the Portable file, let's see if that works ... Application opens, that is a decent work around ... now safe mode ... yes, it installed in safe mode ... rebooting to the standard version of Win 10 ... Windows Repair opens properly.

Apparently, I had to install this in the safe mode. I don't think this is an anti-virus issue, though, as I am only running Windows Defender. I've never seen that interfering with an install, but, of course, there is always a first time .

It is my "test" machine ... I run all my new software on it to see if there is a problem including programs that do not work and to check for malware, and then, eventually, all software is added. Your All-in-one-repair is placed on every machine I own as I never know when it will be needed.

It can't be that as I downloaded the file on another computer, and the installation went well with the other computer and several others (I have 9 Windows 10 machines). Oh ... I just thought of something that may be the problem ... the computer I'm having the problem with is my "test" computer and it is running an advance version of Windows 10 Pro ... build 11082.1000 rather than the present version on most Windows 10 machines, build 10586.36. Could that be the problem?

Using version 2.6.3, I decided to stop the repair at this point on my Dell Venue 8 Pro. It corrupted the operating system so that IE and most of the "Modern Apps" would open and close immediately. I tried to do a system restore and found that there was such corruption that it would not work. I also tried a system reset and that would not work, either, I eventually had to send the tablet back to Dell who repaired it by reinstalling the operating system.

DO NOT STOP THIS REPAIR. IT MAY CORRUPT YOUR COMPUTER SO THAT YOU WILL HAVE TO REINSTALL EVERYTHING.

I am running Win 8.1 Core with all updates including Update 1.

I've been having some small, but irritating problems which I shall not go into here and thought that running your Windows Repair All in one version 2.7 might help. I chose all 41 repairs and it ran successfully. After reboot, I opened Internet Explorer expecting the 6 webpages I had previously set in Internet Options as "Home Page" to be available on their individual tabs. Only one was there, the one I had set to open first. Apparently, your Internet Explored repair had removed the other 5.

Thankfully, I was able to remember the URLs of each and manually reentered them into Internet Options.

Is the removal of all but "Home Page" a feature or a problem in your program?

By the way, I am not unhappy with your program and thank you very much for it, but if the above problem was caused by a feature or a bug, I would appreciate your help in fixing this problem.

49
Actually, I ran all tasks on the latest version, 1.9.1, of the repair tool including the IE repair. Only then did I go onto the forum.

50
The problem is with IE 9 only. While I do have Chromium 24.0.13060 (not Chrome) and Firefox 16.01 installed, I rarely use them., but checking both, neither have the runtime problem.
