I forgot to add that before making any changes in the registry, always create a restore point first - although it's unlikely that you will want to go back to those entries, but is always a safeguard.

ok I’m working on it now  :artist:

I suppose if it isn't working then you aren't going to get any problems with it :) - or did you mean when it was working ?

I was mean when it was working

Some people stay on older versions of browsers because they don't have any problems with them that later versions can have, but it's wrong not to keep any program up to date for security reasons.

Having said that, you could try an older version of FF to see if the https sites are still blocked.

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/install-older-version-of-firefox

so which version of Firefox browser I need to download for a test ? and after this I will start work on : )

XP only supports up to IE8 and that can cause problems in itself because some sites no longer support it - which version of FF are you using on the XP machine ?

my XP right now is offline a long time due to laptop screen damage !(more a year from now so I don’t have an answer  )

Amiti Antivirus http://www.netgate.sk/products/amiti-antivirus/  (first use of it)

how to correct the problem ?

I have Reimage Repair on my computer because when I opened Tweaking this morning it said there was an updated version available . So , I used the link in your tray icon to go to your website . Once there the first thing I found was a download for Reimage Repair and a recomendation from your site that I should install and run it before I updated Tweaking .I now find this to be very poor advice .
Reimage Repair and Tweaking neither one show up in the programs and features section of the control panel .

aha so you simply click an ad on Shane’s website ? reimage isn’t even Shane’s program , neither heard of it that was a  Shane’s program Related so you already click on Google ad (a download for reimage ?) and you’ve should never click an ad on any websites Because of the risks of adware/malware downloading pages! so you are Probably infected ! have you run both adware cleaner and JRT to make sure your pc is clean ? give it a try with Mbam https://www.malwarebytes.org/

https://toolslib.net/downloads/viewdownload/1-adwcleaner/

http://thisisudax.org/

I removed all traces of Reimage Repair and Tweaking from my computer . I then reinstalled Tweeking . When I started the program I tried to check for updates but keep getting an -online version error - message .
What do I do now ?

then you are using the full installer version of Tweaking software ? correct ? and what the error code can you post the error code or make a screenshot so Shane can help you more my !

96
do you have any previous restore point? You probably need to restore the system before this ?

you can do restoring your system to an earlier restore point in safe mode as I think !

97
Thanks for those suggestions, Gamezertruth!  I also found a W7 restore disc and will try that once it arrives.  I use Microsoft Security Essentials plus Malwarebytes- and will be sure to disable both when I eventually try to install W10 again.

Your help is much appreciated!

you’re Welcome

98
why you have "reimage software" reimage is a crap program and should not on any computer! https://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?/topic/169127-reimage-repair-false-detection/?hl=reimage

try this fix https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/mats/program_install_and_uninstall

and have you checked your computer for malware ?

I suppose the simple answer is to just use IE when you get that error message.

As you have gone through FF's troubleshooting steps, I don't know what else to suggest - I just know that my FF works in its basic form.

ok  thank you for let my know!
