General Computer Support / Re: Failure to update windows 8.1
« on: April 18, 2014, 10:36:27 am »
My mom and dad's laptop is stuck on Windows 8 When I tried to update to Windows 8.1 it would install but the control panel was missed up and you could not use it. Would like to have Windows 8.1 update 1 on it. It came with Windows 8 installed on it when they bought it. It is a HP laptop. Even the guys at Staples where they bought it tried and could not get it to work. MS sure did something in the update.

You might need to do a fresh install of Windows. I have had Windows that bad only a fresh install would fix it. I use the as the last option when nothing else works. Just back up the whole drive before you do it so you have you stuff to reload. Wait for Shane to reply to see if he can help.

Would there be a trial of the pro version like so many day then it goes to the free version. That way we can see if we really want to buy the pro version.

Right. Would like my next computer to have this port.

Type B is what your Samsung. Type C is smaller then type A and bigger then type B. What I like about it  is that it works like the apple like the one I have for my phone. You can plug it in anyway. That way people will not force it in if plugged in the wrong way and brake it.
