Sorry, I can't follow. Didn't you say in safe mode it's all the same?

27
Yes, I run Bitdefender and MBAM, as you pointed out though, they can't interfere in safe mode.
I'm not in a case of emergency, so I run a few more turns, if no better I resort to the brute methods.

28
Thanks, I had no problem with WR registry restore.

This nondestructive reinstall though seems rather sensitive to the actual Windows version. I run the Enterprise edition, will it work with it?

I can use my system with minor difficulties, so I may wait a while more, possibly some other way opens up.

29
So, I should start WR,
first restore registry to the state before I ran it firs time
run WR again
then run the non-destructive reinstall?

30
Thanks, I will try that.

31
....then blue death again.

32
Right after reboot blue death again.
After next reboot everything seems OK, except for yahoo mail in Blue Moon.

33
It's been less than an hour. Apart from this blue death I've only experienced difficulty with yahoo mail on Blue Moon browser, it wouldn't load saying that cookies are rejected while other sites obviously with cookies load readily. This might be a separate issue though.

34
I can't see anything from this, can you?

35
I've just run WR. Right after that I got the 'blue death', of course that could be an accident. I'll try to find out if my system is repaired or not.

36
I thought I should only check on the suspicious elements, but then I will try the whole lot. Thanks again.

37
Do you mean all the options at once?

38
Yes, I hope Shane's program could help but can't find which repair option to choose. Could you advise?

39
Thank you.
I still seek a miracle for a while, if I can't find any, I resort to refresh.

40
In safe mode restorehealth finished with the same error message.
Bad enough but way worse was to come.

When I tried to reboot in normal mode, I got error 0xc0000225. According to the message winload.exe was missing or erroneous. Enter to retry, F8 for Startup Setting.

Neither Enter nor F8 did anything. The system was completely dead. I had to restore a recovery image.
What on Earth could cause this? Earlier I had run safe mode then normal ode again with no problem.

41
I'm reluctant to turn off all protection I'm afraid though I need to. I'm going to try it.

42
SFCFix.exe gave me the same error message as Dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /Restorehealth, please find enclosed the screenshot.

Earlier, for another issue, I tried Refresh, it took most of my customization, I have a lot, while it didn't solve my problem.

Yes, I run Windows 8.1, 64 bit.

Hi,

Dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /Restorehealth failed with the error message:
error 0x800f0906
The source files could not be downloaded. Use the "source" option...go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=243077
Alas, I couldn't make out anything from the given link.

I enabled connection to windows updates directly, via gpedit.msc, as sugested here
http://www.eightforums.com/performance-maintenance/48368-restorehealth-error-0x800f0906.html
It didn't help.

Per http://www.thewindowsclub.com/repair-corrupt-windows-image-error-0x800f0906 I also tried this:
elevated cmd
   net stop wuauserv
       cd %systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution
     ren Download Download.old
      net start wuauserv
       net stop bits
       net start bits
       net stop cryptsvc
       cd %systemroot%\system32
       ren catroot2 catroot2old
       net start cryptsvc
        then reboot
No success.

sfc/scannow reported it'd found corrupted files but couldn't fix them.

Of course, I wanted to try Shane's program but couldn't find which repair option to run.

What should I do?
Many thanks,
George

44
Thank you Boggin for the warning.

Thank you Shane for doing it.

45
So, it seemed a simple problem, a faulty registry key, but it lay far from that. Thank you so very much Shane to have moved all stones till finding and fixing it.  :cheesy:

46
I've sent it. If not in your inbox, please check the spam.

47
I'm sorry it wants more
No change by this

48
In a new admin account I experienced just the same.

49
Thanks a lot  :cheesy:

Please find enclosed the two exported files.

50
I'm sorry, I must be even dumber than I look.

'In that code you will see the registry location where the info is set.' I can't, where is it?

'Go to that location in the registry and let me know if you have anything there, if you do, export it out to a file and post it for me so I can look it over.'  I can only back up the whole registry, how to export out a part of it?
