I've run the auto detect on both laptops and the newer version for the HD6310 is 8.0.916.0 and that still gave me the red hue, so had to roll back on that one again.

The one for the HD3200 was and still is after doing the Custom and Select All is for the 13-9 Legacy Vista_Win 7 ver. 8.970.100.1100 - so it's possible there could be a compatibility problem with you having installed the 8.632.1.2000 version.

When did you upgrade to the latest driver and did this dimming problem coincide with that ?

Going into Device Manager and rolling back the driver may sort it because I have the HD3200 in one of my Tosh laptops and when using the auto detect, it only ever gives the legacy drivers for it. http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/auto-detect-tool

I think I installed a similar v8 for the HD6310 drivers on here and that gave me a red hue that was only resolved by rolling back the driver.

I use Norton 360 which has its own firewall and disables Windows Firewall on installation.

I can't remember, but if it's Avast Free that you are using, then perhaps uninstalling that and trying something like Avira which has its own firewall may be an option, but I can't understand why Windows Firewall is causing problems for just FF and no other browser.

So which page/section is this in - I take it you read the warning in red about competence in working on electronics ?

Right, I'm in - what options do you have when you press the Monitor Menu button ?

Continuing to read....

Did you read the tools requirements for this ?

This is a job for a qualified electrician - even the factory reset requires an EEPROM ?

Is there any place where you could get another monitor or have this one repaired by qualified people ?

9505
Was the server not found error message still popping up before you allowed it in Windows Firewall ?

9506
Can you post a screenshot of the instructions because I'm not sure from the link you have posted where I have to click to view the info you are referring to.

Can you copy across MiniToolBox from the link in my last post, check all of the boxes then post its report on here so we may be able to see what is going on ?

If the "good" computer is otherwise working okay, then the Safe Mode problem can be looked at later as it's best to work on just one machine at a time - but you could download the auto detect and install the graphics drivers if it gives you a download. http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/auto-detect-tool

If it says you're up to date and doesn't, then go Start - All Programs  - right click on AMD Catalyst Control Center and select Delete then try the auto detect again.

After the drivers have downloaded, select the Custom install and click on Select All and let it do it's thing - but we need to concentrate on the original Network problem.

User Manual - http://www.lg.com/levant_en/support-product/lg-700E

Service Manual (I tried the top one) - http://www.eserviceinfo.com/index.php?what=search2&searchstring=lg+monitor+700E

The Recall menu could be a tech adjustment and while I haven't gone far through the Service manual, there may be a reference to it.

It could be the power settings as if it was hardware and the backlight or inverter were on their way out, no amount of button pressing would restore.

Does this occur on AC as well as on Battery and do you have the laptop Power Options set to High Performance/Change plan settings so it is set to never dim the display or if the dimming coincides with whatever it's set at.

You can also go Start Orb - type ccc then press enter or you could access it through All Programs.

You may have to wait a little while but the Catalyst Control Center will come up where you can adjust various settings.

I've tried downloading the English version of the manual but all I get is a blank PDF page but as it's dated 2004.....

I had more luck with the service manual for Abnormal Displays, but all that gave was trouble shooting charts for checking various voltages -  so this could be a hardware problem rather than just pressing a button.

One thing you could try after switching off is to refit the cable should there be a bad connection on the plugs/sockets.

Normally without setting other programs to run in Safe Mode with Networking, there's usually only Windows Firewall active - although when on occasions I've booted up into that mode, I've seen my Norton 360 drivers included as the rest were loaded.

AVG can be the bane of Internet at times, especially when its AVG Secure Search add-on is running and uninstalling AVG in favour of something like MSE while trouble shooting is always a good step and using either a good uninstaller program or AVG's uninstaller to ensure no residue remains.

I'm concerned at the amount of external storage media connected while trying to trouble shoot the computer as they add too many variables - and without going back through the thread, don't know if connectivity is possible when wired using the built in LAN and without bitcomet.

Definitely needs the likes of µTorrent uninstalling and would be interested as to what else is installed on the computer.

A copy of the output of MiniToolBx with pretty much all of the boxes checked could tell us a lot - this file can be copied across the same way as the ipconfig /all was.  http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/minitoolbox/

All of those programs would have been isolated in Safe Mode with Networking, so perhaps the conflict is from the attached devices ?

Have you always had the external HDD plugged in ?

You need to get the computer sorted without anything connected as the infection could be residing on the external HDD and I don't think the likes of Combofix etc. would have scanned other than C:

In Kaspersky you have boxes to check for which drive to scan and if you had the one for the external drive checked as well, then it would have gone onto scanning that one as well.

The scan should have completed long before now if it was just set to scan C: on the computer.

9514
That PRTSC looks fine on here, but I'm using a laptop and my graphics are fine.

Have you been able to get into your Graphics settings or tried a restore point back to when it was displaying correctly for you.

Doing the Kaspersky Rescue DIsk, it was able to connect to the internet and the browser works to. 19 hours to go :(

The Scan C: only took ~9.5hrs on mine which was long enough, but it would depend upon how much you have on your computer.

Kaspersky won't be using Telus to connect to the internet http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/36403/how-to-use-the-kaspersky-rescue-disk-to-clean-your-infected-pc/

9516
Here is a checklist you can work your way through which is headed by the first suggestion I would make and that is to see if you get the same problem with another browser. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/server-not-found-connection-problem

This will determine if it is Firefox (for you) or the computer which can include an infection when you can't get any websites.

The first thing I do then is to run the browser (I use IE) without add-ons - if that works then I would normally download/run AdwCleaner.

The next is a choice of running netsh winsock reset catalog and netsh in ip reset resetlog.txt or booting up into Safe Mode with Networking - the latter if works would tend to point to your AV program and to confirm that, perform a clean boot as your AV program isn't isolated in a clean boot.

When it's just the odd websites then the winsock command can help but if just one, I normally just use Refresh.

If the Refresh symbol isn't showing then tap F5.

Clearing the SSL state can also help, although I don't know how this is done in FF but in IE it's Tools > Internet options > Content > Clear SSL state and this article explains what that does http://science.opposingviews.com/clear-ssl-state-mean-22093.html

Anyway, see how you get on with the checklist.

9517
I still think that this is a graphics problem rather than the monitor if the resolution is set to recommended.

What is the make & model of your GPU and when you right click on it in Device Manager and select Properties, what is its status ?

9518
Hi, Before asking tips to reset winsocks to correct the problem, i wish to know that it is anything to do with the firefox browser.

No, if it's a winsock or Hosts file problem, you would get the same problems whichever browser you were using as it affects the way your computer connects to a website - did you read the articles on winsock and the Hosts file that I'd linked as to their purpose ?

You didn't get back to us if you had checked Event Viewer - Post #28 describes how to check for the errors.

It was interesting that bitcomet.exe was trying to take you to Falcoware.com so you could have something malicious on there.

Either with the partial connectivity or you can save and copy across - download AdwCleaner http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/

Click on Scan and when that has completed, it may show items in the lower box that you can uncheck if you want to keep.

Click on Report and that will show what it has found - if it has found any files that it wants to delete, close the Report and click on Clean.

It will produce another report after the reboot as to what it has deleted and then see if you can connect through Telus.

If that still fails then I think you should use the link in Post #30 to create a Kaspersky Rescue Disk and boot up with that.

It may be able to get an Internet connection if you wire up so that it can update itself when you choose that option and then have it Scan C:

This will take a number of hours and when it has completed, click on Shutdown to see what it does then - it initiated a chkdsk /f on mine but it may take another path for you as I had a different problem when I used it..

Perhaps it's because you have been playing around with the files that you are getting the error messages that you are and it's time to put them back to the way Windows prefers ?

BTW - ImgBurn is as good a burner as any http://filehippo.com/download_imgburn

Have you checked to see what a sfc /scannow reports with and without it enabled ?

9522
So does that mean you have resolved the monitor resolution and the stretch problems ?

As for Excel, it depends upon the problems you have - came across this which may or not help http://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/excel-help/define-and-solve-a-problem-by-using-solver-HP010342416.aspx

9523
There's one site in particular that I go to occasionally where I get the unable to connect message now and again and clicking on the Refresh symbol in the top bar usually does it.

If you start getting this with every web site that you are trying to access, then it's usually because of a corrupt winsock (Windows Socket) and resetting it is usually the fix.

Winsock - http://www.techopedia.com/definition/5030/windows-sockets-winsock

Hosts File - http://www.accs-net.com/hosts/what_is_hosts.html

So if either gets corrupt you will either have problems connecting to the web site or with the latter, it may not display fully.

9524
I have AMD graphics on this laptop and I'm able to open the Catalyst Control Center (CCC) where it has a "Home" page with a button for Default as well as a side menu to adjust various settings which may have more to do with the stretch than the actual screen resolution.

A Google for how to default reset your graphics may produce some links but I think I would still go for the graphics driver update first.

Edit - We were posting at the same time.

So what exactly are you looking for now ?
