Tweaking.com Support & Help / Re: Loading Variables Get Stuck @76%

Good to know - thanks for following up!

My best guess here is it is printer driver related - not program related.

That is hard to diagnose here.

What I would try is change the position offset. The easier way to do that is to click the "print preview" and double click on the screen somewhere to the left. That will force the address to move where you want it.

I know this will sound weird, but I would wager it is a cable problem.

I have seen this a number of times with different phones - even my old s3. If you are using the cable that came with the phone - swap it and see if it works. OR, find the cable that came with the phone and see if it works.

105
if it boots into safe mode - that's great because you can back up and get your data. (so do that)

That also means XP works but something in the startup does not.

Second run msconfig - disable anything that you do not 100% need.  That may be the issue.

if that doesn;t work you have to start looking at drivers.

My best guess would be the driver as well - for the BSOD.

The jittery mouse may very well be from an overloaded system. Have you looked at like task manager to see the cpu usage and memory usage while downloading?

Tweaking.com Support & Help / Re: Failed SFC Scan on Win 8.1

Without knowing much about the machine, it's hard to say the best course.  The hash mismatch either indicates a corrupt file or possibly a virus.

I am assuming the machine is not running well otherwise there would have been no deed for the repair tool.

If you have eliminated viral issues - I would look at the link below and go with suggested method to - then re-run sfc

Hmm..  I used that once or twice several years ago, so I'm no expert. However I found this > https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee681616(v=ws.10).aspx

It doesn't look like its as hard as you described. So maybe it is not the same thing, but it does indicate uninstalling the old version is best.

Another way you may go about it is to install xpmode
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8002
that executable will prompt you for the Microsoft VM (I think) but you dont need it, if that is giving you the issue. Install that, then get Vmware player http://www.vmware.com/products/player/playerpro-evaluation.html install that and do file>import>xpmode.

OK - I;ve never heard of this one before, but hey... Every day brings something new.

1st. The rg tweak for notepad is is a pretty simple one, but instead of  me typing it out. Here;s a good article on how to do it manually.
https://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/add-open-with-notepad-to-the-context-menu-for-all-files/

Is the correct entry there?

After that clikc start >> Run >> and type msconfig in the box. Then enter.  Click the startup tab. Anything in there say noetpad?

General Computer Support / Re: Registry Backup- Failed
« on: April 03, 2017, 05:21:46 pm »
It could be something on your system that doesn;t like the shadow copy backup (best way)

When you click for a backup , that starts automatically. There is a button for "Use Fallback Method"  Click that and see if that helps.

111
I found this that may help:
https://www.eightforums.com/general-support/39343-windows-8-automatic-repair-loop-issue.html

Looks like you had something serious with IE. repairing from the CD may be the best option.

112
Basically - you need to create a scheduled task with admin privileges and then create a shortcut to that task.  VLC may be doing that. I don;t know that for sure, but maybe. Here is how.

I am wondering if this has something to selecting Unhide Nonsystem files. I suspect if yo do not select that option you would be fine.

114
We'll fix that. ;)

Tweaking.com Support & Help / Re: Registry Bakup and event log items
« on: March 13, 2017, 02:31:21 pm »
It's not necessarily true that with an AV working with one thing would work with another.   It could simply have whitelisted one but not us or for some reason, it may be setting off something heuristically. It may simply be your av does want things running in a virtual machine that it cant control.

When the backup runs, there is an option for the fallback option. That doesn;t use VSS. Does that work?

Also, what AV do you use?

Thanks!
Jim

WCIFS is the Windows Container Isolation File System. Most likely your AV software is hooked in and causing the issue.
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/hardware/drivers/ifs/anti-virus-optimization-for-windows-containers?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396

While researching this, I found the exact issue here. Sure save me a lot of typing. ;)

Uncheck the reset registery permissions one. It's a MS issue that they haven't fixed yet.

After some research you ordered the Technician Tool Box, not the repair program. I just emailed you on the topic.

My best guess is that your userclass.dat is mucked up. One of these to methods should help you.

Tweaking.com Support & Help / Re: How to make Tweaking tools pro portable?
« on: February 22, 2017, 06:40:16 pm »
Yup the repair tool has a portable version as well on it's page.  Version 3.0 is licensed per user - so you can use it on whatever machine you like.

122
Both the repair tools and the toolbox have portable  versions available on their download pages.

Found it from your email.  Your bank issued a chargeback on 2/14/17. That would have had to have been initiated by you.
