General Computer Support / Lag / Ping of Death while offline Gaming
« on: November 09, 2015, 12:47:14 am »
This problem has occured to me several times and keeps coming back from time to time while gaming either online or offline.I get a huuuuge delay like in the image below(i divided it by red | so it can be read more easily ).

http://postimg.org/image/9p6k4k16p/

Dont't ask.Its a real number, not fake and really goes off the chart.I noticed it only late because my hole laptop was at halt.Luckly i had this opened and look what it found.OMG!

I identifyed to problems that might cause it:

Loose power plug
OR
Hardware Confilct
OR
Software Conflict

Arguments for my above statements:

Loose PowerPlug - i set my laptop to have high brightness while power plug is plugged on and low brightness while its plugged of.I notice sometimes my screen turns darker and brighter and this might cause it.Also i tryed gaming without power plug and the delays are much more frequent and everything happens in slow motion than happen while

Hardware conflict - i notice that a usb port goes on and off very often. This happens from time to time and i dont know why.If you suggest one usb device cable is loose it is wrong because only my mouse is plugged and never had single cursor freeze from it.Might be an internal usb port with a loose cable plugged. For this i will uplod additional data should it be required.

Software Conflict - well, this is partial true.Sometimes sound would fliker while gaming but the fliker would stop if i turn off wireless triver. So my suspicion is that and hardware conflict might also be involved

Looking forward to a reply.

As far as i know, in Roumainia, the "Return Policy" implies that you may recieve full refund when you return the product if only you return it within 24h hours from purchase. So thats out of question.A new thing came up though. When all students attend courses or are returning to their hometown, connection improves dramatically. So its just the large number of routers functioning on the same storey fighting eachother for the best channel or settle for the second best and so on.

Ok.I kinda figured out whats the problem.Beeing so many wireless routers on my storey mean that chanells will be shared regardless what i do,this will gonna affect my signal strength.

The device, with Wireless Zero Configuration will always gonna search for a better connection and i believe all the computers on this storey have this windows service started, this affecting the connectivity of the internet, determining drops and lagspikes.

Lastly my own speed is affected by all devices using the same wireless device, therefore, bandwith is shared between all the devices.

The only solution to get max speed connection is a cross-over cable to router and mainly thats it.No lags, delays, drops or anything else.I keep both cable and wireless connection active. Its annoying but i do this for comparasion. What i deducted from this:

Wireless has many drops. But as long as i have the cable plugged,it may drop but wont disconnect me :))
Wireless is meant for small home/office use,not for streaming/gaming/ or anything that implies continous connection.Don't buy cheap wireless or gonna end up lagging. Here is the router i have.Avoid buying routers with same specifications if you want no lags/drops while gaming/streaming:

Thanks for all your help.I leave topic 1 day or 2 to see any new replies.Ill close it afterwards.Having other pc problems ill be posting on soon.

Yes,the value can be changed with the dropdown menu. And about MTU settings i tryed to adjust the way you suggested with dr TCP.Its value is 1492 for my cable connection but detects 3 wireless connections having no MTU settings.Added to the insult,i tryed playing an offline game on my PC,and i lagged having a latency of 1,000,000(rounded value, the value is actually heigher). We will talk about this in an other topic.

For now,i doubt changing the ad-hoc will do anything as it doesn't change the router channel.

Additional data for wireless router with Insider at my student hostel

Curiously enough, this lag dosent seem to affect videos at my colleagues but mine would rarely be buffering. At online games they still all lag

First, all softwares mentioned are installed, used, and uninstalled so that my PC runs smothly
Secondly Chkdsk is corrupted, while in OS will report errors,if scheduled to start on boot up it says everything its fine.

Now about the slow wireless speed...

I'll be posting that during Monday. And about safe mode, attemping to boot on any other boot options apart from "Start Windows Normally"  would cause system failure, afterwards an instant shutdown/restart.This problem is regarding my current OS installation and i can't afford a reinstall for a couple of reasons.

I believe i should switch on wired connection on my hostel because having 20 routers functioning silmutaneously on the same storey is definetly a gonna create a performance issue.I tried on my hostel a wired connection(wired the router to internet(WAN port),and my laptop to the router(LAN1 port)).

So i tested Cabled vs Wired Conncetion on my room on a game called Curvefever

Guess what happened. From my perspective i didn't lag at all, everything worked fine and smootly within lobby and during game.Everything ran smoothly and no delays.

My collegue on the other hand had a lot of problems. He was experiencing lag problems within the lobby(the game notifies when you have lag or slow connection),he saw all other players moving very laggy and abruptly

So i guess it is the problem with signal,I wonder if i can decrease the wifi broadcast are signal only to my room to reduce the interference as much as i possibly can.YOu know, wireless its supposed to be wireless :)

I swear on all gods that i wasn't connected at all through any wired cable when i took  that pictures and i was connected wirelessly to my router. And by gateway 192.168.0.1,its the router addres i need to type in the browser addres bar to acces its interface. Why 10.0.0.1,I believe it is so because de protocol the router uses its PPoE(requiring a username and password). My router uses that registration forms to give internet acces through the WAN cable it is connected to and broadcast that signal within its vicinity so that I can connect to it and get not only local acces(LAN) but also Internet Acces(WAN).

I bought this new tenda wirelees N300 home router, model f300 and i have to say the speed is really slow, devices connected to it drop from time to time and lag is on a daily basis.I use the router at my student hostel and for certain there are other routers working on the same storey, about 20 or more.We have only 3 devices connected to our router but we use it only for online videos and gaming.OS differs on each device:Windows XP,Windows 7 and Windows 10.

Have to mention  i have the same router home and hardly ever had lagspikes(owing to router) or drops.I know i can tweak around and give up wireless for wired connection as it is way faster but i want to know how could i possibly improve wireless router connetion.Below ill post some images to get an better preview of the problem:

I have a really strange problem occuring these days and that of a sound flickering while gaming. This problem comes with also periodical short screen freezes and than short fastward similar to a lagging, but this was an offline standalone game of about 50mb.I measured the latency while playing an game and the problem occured, from about 200-300 whhich is quite normal it drastically increased to about 600.000.Everything normal while not gaming or watching videos.Image with the issue attached.

What did I used to attempt solve it out with no succes:

Uniblue Powersuite
Junkware Removal Tool
CC Cleaner
Hitman Pro
AdwCleaner
IExplore(terminate malware proceses)
RogueKiller
Tweaking.com Repair all in one
MalwareBytes Anti-Malware
Fresh Install Sound Drivers with UptoDate Drivers provided by Manufacturer

Subject covered. But 0.07 s boost after disabling all software its kinda disappointing, not even a single 1 s.My laptop is used mainly for Photo/Video/Audio editing ,Office Apps and Gaming mainly.Nothing else.Harddrive now, over 50% empty ,kept only the basic programs i need  frequently,my work, some templates, others uninstall and keep setup,Registry and Disk defragmented. Its something about ser{vice and ill find out.

[Solution]:Always  have a registry backup of you OS(Operating System) and its Hardware(basic Drivers)  done with Junkware Removal Tool to restore using Hirens Boot CD MiniXp too boot up and simply run C:\RegBackup\ComputerDescription\Date\Dos_restore.cmd

Junkware Removal Tool

Hirens Boot CD

PS,how to mark topic as solved, quite confusing as i cant change the topic title

Now works pretty fine since that DOS retore.Registry was at fault and my softwares couldn't detect it.Guess Backing up yourself in 2 forms(*.reg and *.file) once you fully installed OS and Drivers then just keep it forever instead of hundrets of softwares claiming to repair registry.Well i still wanna google up all services running on my OS,to give a little more boost.Thx for all help.

Tried that chkdsk in my already malufunctional chkdsk,Bad idea.BSOD on all attempts to boot,Start Windows Normally,Last Know Good Configuration,All Safe modes.I was lucky as i had Hirens Boot CD on usb and Junkware Removal Tool, restored all the registry to 26.05.2015.Regedit wont help you while in minixp,JRT reg backup works on dos and restores registry to the correct path, not xp mini, you need both of them. This restore optimize my pc speed a bit and now is down to 40.Pretty good if i had any AV running but i dont.10 s to under ?
