Hi, check up with windows readiness tool for windows 7. It is a good tool at getting missing windows files

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=20858

1003
Tell you what let me install a virtual windows 7 with just sp2 and not update it then install the hotfixes via the catalog and ill post back this may take me a bit but ill post back
I just want to be sure before I give a definitive answer. lol.

1004
Hmmmm that is a question. I don't see why not. But to be on the safe side try it on a virtual windows 7 using VMware. The question I would be wondering the most is the security vulnerability updates after service pack one but before the hotfix. if you would make the system vulnerable...

1005
oh shoot I'm sorry Jraju I read your post wrong.
So you don't want any other updates after SP1. that's kinda risky but after a clean install of windows 7 sp1 you would check Don't check for updates then turn of the notifications via action center.

But what I do is I set it to check for updates but don't download or install them. So later I can review them and install them if I need them or hide them if I don't need them.
example:KB2970228
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2970228
this is an "Update to support the new currency symbol for the Russian ruble in Windows" junk update in my own opinion.

Did this help you out Jraju?

This link explains this perfectly just follow the step's it tells you to do:

here is every link in English for the stuff you need cause the link on the web site is in German I Believe

download this tool and run:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/What-is-the-System-Update-Readiness-Tool

after running system update readiness tool go to
C:\windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log upload that log.

(Outcome 1)If I see everything is good in that log you can try to re-run windows update. And see if everything updates good.

(Outcome 2)If I see anything in that log that tells me system update readinenss tool failed to fix the corruption of CBS Manifest.

I'll upload the proper .msu to my sky drive for you to download
Then you will need to Create a directory at C:\Windows\CheckSur\packages
Copy the downloaded msu file there
Re-run System Update Readiness Tool
we almost have you fixed and ready to go! lol  :cheesy:

(side note)
Interesting that update file size is 194kb http://i.imgur.com/Q4BnGCt.png?1
when in the windows update catalog it's 361kb... what do you think Shane?
Did they do a patch on that update?

Yes that should work BUT he needs to take permissions of that registry section first in order to remove them.

Shane

does your repair all in one reset registry permissions do that?

Alright lets try uninstalling .net framework all versions from control panel>uninstall programs. Then reboot the computer
link to my google drive

I added an easy .net 4.5.2 install to my google drive. download it and and unzip run the Automated-Install-Script as admin. reboot and let me know what happens :D
its 86 mb so it may take awhile to download its all the updates with it

I have started a huge file repository on my system with all the cat and mum files and made a little program for myself where I put in the list of files and it goes and grabs them for me. I plan on making a tool and putting these files online later on.

Shane

Shane you have to show me how you do this. :omg:

I'm doing the old school looking through windows update catalog and comparing and contrasting of my packages folder.. I had all of them but kb3003057

Shane, I have tried that several times not, but it doesn't work

As Sundavor said, if you can post that log for me that would be great.

Can you tell me a little more about what happened when you tried it? Saying it doesn't work doesn't give me much to go on lol :cheesy:

Shane

Hmmm Shane I have a question....I think my previous post I May have given the wrong url. When running your pre-scan option in tab 2 of your repair tool and the missing or corrupt .mum and .cat files. are showed. Is that the equivalent to a sfc /scannow with the list of of corruption on the bottom of the CBS.log?

The reason I Ask is the steps I gave rockwelder should help him with his error when System readiness tool fails to fix. But what makes me assume that I gave the wrong url link to the .msu rockwelder needs is because I was basing his corruption off of  his original post of the pre-scan and not the CBS log.....
well if he can post his %SYSTEMROOT%\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log It will show the proper msu he needs I believe..
then I can search
http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/home.aspx

« on: June 08, 2015, 10:30:32 pm »
It isnt really a common problem and so far 99% of people who post that the repairs couldnt start are able to have them run in safe mode with no problems, this is because their antivirus or a 3rd party program kept getting in the way of the repairs, but in safe mode those 3rd party programs normally are not running and so dont get in the way.

Thats why you didnt find any answer for that because the problem wasnt the program and safe mode normally takes care of it.

But of course getting some info from you will help a lot on finding out what is going on, what version of windows, av and post a screen of the error itself. I have to have some info to work with lol :cheesy:

Shane

Ah I Did not think of that thanks that's good to know.  It makes sense :cheesy:

what update is that? with the 0x8007090?
C:\windows\logs\cbs delete the cbs.log file
open command prompt run:
sfc /scannow
if it finds corruption that it can't fix
I need you to go to C:\windows\logs\CBS copy the cbs.log and paste to your desktop then upload it so I can view it and see what we need to do next

Alright awesome I'm glad you are making progress with the repair tool. Did you get windows update working properly?
If your are still having issues with windows update or have any other errors post a snapshot I'll try to help you out.

Here is the link for your .net download

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=21

I recommend to download and install this after we get your windows update working smoothly again. If your are still having issues with windows update or have any other errors post a snapshot I'll try to help you out.

I agree with Samson. Maybe drivers or a dying cpu.
Here is a useful program I use for drivers http://m.download.cnet.com/Driver-Booster-2/3000-18513_4-75992725.html
And hw monitor
http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html
Edit: hw monitor for watching power levels but an actual meter is better  http://m.newegg.com/Product/index?itemnumber=N82E16899261023

okay I revamped the command a little bit.... looks like ren messed up and Could not find the path.  been awhile since I used these commands but copy paste to remove and ill paste a fix to bring it back

copy paste into a wordpad save as .bat

Echo off

taskkill.exe /F /IM "gwx.exe"
takeown /f "%windir%\System32\GWX" && icacls "%windir%\System32\GWX" /grant administrators:F
robocopy "%windir%\System32\GWX" "%windir%\System32\GWX_Old" /E
rmdir /s /q "%windir%\System32\GWX"

exit

To bring it back

robocopy "%windir%\System32\GWX_Old" "%windir%\System32\GWX" /E
rmdir /s /q "%windir%\System32\GWX_Old"
%windir%\system32\GWX\GWX.exe /tasklaunch

now lets see if that did it :D

did you download the batch file or create one on your computer with the script? Windows likes to block batch files from other computers
If you downloaded the batch file right click go to properties under the general tab click unblock see what that does for you. or you can copy

Echo off

taskkill.exe /F /IM "gwx.exe"
takeown /f "%windir%\System32\GWX" && icacls "%windir%\System32\GWX" /grant administrators:F
ren "%windir%\System32\GWX\" "GWX_Old"

exit

then open notepad.exe paste save as remove10nag.bat

let me know what that does for you.

after running system update readiness tool
Check %SYSTEMROOT%\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log  to see if it wasn't able to auto-repair any issues if not try downloading the .msu.
link for you below
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=46287
Create a directory at C:\Windows\CheckSur\packages  Copy the downloaded msu file there
Re-run System Update Readiness Tool

Just for a safety precaution run the windows repair tool go to the repair section let it back up the registry uncheck all repairs then check mark only the repair windows update
 reboot
 re-run windows update.
let me know if that works
EDIT:
this link is a more complex way of doing this.
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee619779(WS.10).aspx

I attached the cat and mum files it says you were missing.
