Hey thank you for the descriptive post. Have you tried running the windows repair all in one tool? http://www.tweaking.com/content/page/windows_repair_all_in_one.html
if not download the program and run it in safe mode with networking.

in your bios under the power management do you have it set for s1 and s3? I usually only use s3. Try setting it to s3 only in the bios and start your computer up and put it in sleep mode and hit the space bar after it goes to sleep to see if it turns back on. and let me know the results.
Edit:
sorry forgot to put that in for you.
this will show all the devices on your system that support waking it up on S3 sleep state
powercfg /devicequery wake_from_s3_supported

this will show all the devices on your system that support waking it up on S1 sleep state
powercfg /devicequery wake_from_s1_supported

(hmmmm) if you open command prompt with admin privileges  type in this command "powercfg -a"
I want to see what supported sleep states you have. Plus if you have a dead battery the bios power management settings may set to default.

Feedback & Suggestions / System Restore Beta

First off I just want to say thank you for making an amazing all in one program. I showed my support by purchasing it thanks again  :cheesy:

Now on topic, I had a computer that had a system restore that was failing to turn on. I ran the beta system restore restarted the computer and it allowed the program to turn on. unfortunately it would say "Local Disk (C:/) (Missing OS)". When I went to configure the max usage on it no matter how much I moved the slider it would remain at 0 bytes. After about 5 minutes of thinking I disabled system restore on local disk (C:/) (Missing OS), restarted computer, and perfect. Now  system restore displayed Local Disk (C:) (System) the protection was off I went to (configure) and enabled (Restore system settings and previous versions of files). After applying settings I ran windows repair all in one and did a back up with system restore and it worked like a charm.
