Thanks. Do not forget that after a full update of Win10, you get a clean system... I had win defender active, I just wanted to say that this strange behaviour could not be an interference with an antivirus.

This is very strange...Couldn'it be that somewhere in my W10 there is 'something [rule..]' preventing any change in the registry files??
BTW (edit): I have no antivirus and Windows defender is disabled.

Thanks, you give me some hope...!
Do you confirm me that the procedure to restore from a LiveCD -as it is shown in the youtube video meintioned above) is still good? It could have changed with W10, couldn'it?

Tweaking.com Support & Help / Failure: TweakingRegistryBackup

Hi and greetings from Belgium!
I am running W10Pro. I do not update my system regularly. Until april 2022 I had the 1803 version. Then I have updated to 21H2. Until the 1803 version, I can say that TweakingRegistryBackup has always done its job: backupping and, the most important, restoring the registry. But with the 21H2, it is finished. The backup procedure seems to function normally: VSS ok, 16 files are succesfully backed up in 2 main folders (Users and Windows): log file= https:**www.cjoint.com/c/LGqkNfu1D7U)

But, but restoring is always a failure. Either I arrive on a temporary profile, or there is no restore at all (+ different error messages from Windows). Restoring with a liveCD (like in the video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=VbN0eWR9HMs) gives a black screen and a full block of the machine.
So am I the only one?
Thanks,
A. (and sorry for the mistakes in English!..)

Hi,
I have understood...
In the advanced settings there is an option: 'only do 1 autobackup per day'. If I untick it, it works! If it is 'on', the soft does not start with the command :"TweakingRegistryBackup.exe /silent". But if it is 'on' and if I launch the program normally (double click  on .exe) and then I click 'Backup Now' > the tool starts normally!
I don't think there is anything to do with whether or not I have made an (auto) backup before.
I'll restart the PC tomorrow, with the version 4.0, after having unticked 'only do 1 autobackup per day'. The .bat should launch the line 'TweakingRegistryBackup.exe -silent' and I think it will be good.
By the way:  are the backups made by version 3.5.0.3  fully compatible with those made by version 4.00 ?
Thanks, Paul Brussels Belgium
nb: I use the portable version

Thanks for this quick answer though there is no emergency....
English is not my mother tongue, so please forgive the mistakes!
I have a small .bat file, starting with Windows, with the line:
TweakingRegistryBackup.exe -silent  >> RegistryBackup 4.0.0  did not start during Win logon.
If I try that command in a Run command window [with the version 4.0] >failure
If I try with version 3503 : it is ok
I did not try on a schedule.

Hi,
With the last version (4.0.0.0) the switch -silent does not work anymore (W10, 1803). I have also tried /silent, but no joy! Quid??
Thanks, Paul, Brussels, Belgium
