Tweaking.com Support & Help / Re: problem opening program again
« on: September 19, 2012, 12:33:23 pm »
I though I was posting to the right ones per each title.
One says if you are having trouble with your pc or have a pc question - I think that is straight forward as to issues with my pc but not necessarily related to Tweaking.com.
Another would be feedback for your programs, specifically.
I will be as cautious as I can but guess some of the titles are little confusing - I know it does no good to post erroneously as I a member of at least 10 forums and have no trouble there.
I'll take a second look each time.

General Computer Support / folder removals ?
« on: September 19, 2012, 11:16:46 am »
Hello all
As the attachements show, there are 7 Roxio/Sonic files[shared] in Ccleaner but I do not use Roxio or Sonic.
There are also tons of Silverlight files in Ccleaner along with as many Activex/Com issue.
Also, there are Ubuntu and VM files in Windows explorer which I tried but thought I removed.
Question, can I  remove them?

I was trying to get Ccleaner to run out of a VM so I could delete all if there was trouble.
Is the best way to 'image' prior to unning Ccleaner or is there a better way?

If I restore the registry and there is trouble will Tweaks registry restore recover from the trouble?
Thank you for the help.

I chose not to set a schedule and to use the defaults except for the # of days to 14 from 30.
It is set to 'run under current user account' which seems to work perfectly most of the time.

I thought X'd it to close but maybe it did not?

I think it is ok to recover a backup from don't you?

Tweaking.com Support & Help / problem opening program again
« on: September 18, 2012, 12:50:48 pm »
I thought you would like to know about the attachment.
I reported it once before but only verbally as I forgot to get a picture of it.
I opened the program again and it was fine.
Is there something I should do?

Feedback & Suggestions / Re: suggestion for new [program
« on: September 14, 2012, 12:39:19 pm »

I am not too good with pc lingo but I think you are suggesting I create a thread of keys to exclusde when running Ccleaner because the program cannot be developed. If so I understand.

More importantly, I was just in a Windows Seven Forum and I asked a question about system restore. The person replied that I should stop using a second registry program or I will have trouble. I don't know how to defend your program and doubt there will be a conflict. I usually drop the hint and tell them the name of the program when they write back.
I tried to copy the conversation with this shortcut if you wish to comment. There won't be a problem will there? I do not know what to say other than i was going to contact the author.

Feedback & Suggestions / suggestion for new [program
« on: September 14, 2012, 09:20:10 am »
Hello Shane
If this is seemingly  ridiculous to a programmer, it is because of my computer naivetée with the registry.
Most  fear that a registry cleaner will make an error and remove the wrong entry.
If there were two ways of looking at the registry, as in two cleaners, there would be some common entries to be removed. If the program cross referenced the two findings and only kept those that the two found in common, would that not reduce the odds of removing the wrong entries. I do not know if all of this can be put in one comprehensive program but it woud be a big attraction.
1-Step one = one cleaner analyze the pc
2-Step two =  the second cleaner analyze the registry differently.
3-Step three =  find the enties that they found in common by cross referencing.
Then with a restore point created the cleaning would only apply to those the two DIFFERENT approaches detected.
Thjs is probably eay to suggest yet difficult to create but maybe worth considering.

General Computer Support / Ccleaner

Hello
I have always believed one should never use Ccleaner or any registry cleaner as they do more harm than good.
With this new registry back up I am now not sure. If I used my Tweaking.com registry backup before I used the registry cleaner at Ccleaner, would I be able to restore the registry as though nothing happened if there was trouble after the cleaning?
Thank you

Great to see you are on top of the registry backup.
I do not know about technical issues but from a users point of view, the program works easily and that is what many people who could not figure ERUNT wanted. Yesterday something happened to internet on the laptop, and instead of system restore, I simply clicked Tweak's reg backup/restore and was up and running in no time. I hope dropping the name "Tweak's" reg back up arestoreore in different foums helps to keep things going well.

General Computer Support / file question Exent_SDM
« on: August 30, 2012, 02:25:44 pm »
Hello
I downloaded a virtual box and Ubuntu and  find the attched file Exent_SDM in my startup section.
I do not know if this file is related to the downloads and cannot find information about it.
I ran the Tweaking.com registry restore to before the VM but it still is in the startup entries.
I cannot find any information on it.
When I run the autorun in Revo it says it is invalid.
This is the path.
C:\Users\us\AppData\Local\Temp\SDM143\Free Ride Games.exe "l 'Startup' u 'http://www.freeridegames.com/do/SDM?action=config&contentId=%d' p '143' c '615450'".
Attached is a prntscrn of the temp folder.
What would you advise me to do?
Thank you
Peter

No one can solve this so if you have time maybe you can.

I downloaded the current iso file from Ubuntu's home page to dvd-rw.
When I insert it in the lap top it works. When I do the same with the desktop the screen shows black with white data and freezes so I have to hard boot. I have almost burned out a power supply by trying various discs and other ways and have about 6 hang ups.
When it installed, by error, I removed it but had a heck of a time removing the dual boot -I did finally.

Do you have any idea why I cannot get past this frozen screen?
I have gone to the BIOS and set cd/dvd as first boot and it still hangs.
Thanx
Peter

I have the tweaking.com registry up and running -fine.
I have set the # of days to 30 and sometimes delete a backup because I have to log on a couple or three times a day.
When I reach 30 days I will check back.

A general pc backup related question you may help me with - Acronis takes 42 GB when I do a system restore including folders etc.
Windows 7 utility does the same in 30 GB.
Any idea why one is so much smaller than the other -verification, or would that not figure in?
Thank you
Peter

Tweaking.com Support & Help / # of days is not working
« on: August 16, 2012, 12:35:55 pm »
I looked at the # of backups in both the program and in RegBak and there are 24 yet the setting is set for 20.
Perhaps it is because it means days and not backups as there are 18 days as opposed to 24 backups .
The message may be two days premature.
Thank you

Hello
As the attachment shows, I have lost the full task manger and only have the processes.
I do not know how long it has been like this.
How do I restore the full task manager?
Should my first move be to run the Tweak registry backup or is there an adjustment to make?
Thank you

I did not see anything when it runs at log on, as when I perform a manual backup, but that is to be expected, I think.

Hello
I am using the default which runs the registry backup at log on with current user account.
Two questions, please;
1-is this the right choice for log on
2-why does it seems not to take as long a a manual backup? Is it because it is running in the background?
Thank you

Hello
First, I would like to say that I am very happy with the Tweaking.com registry back up program.

I was looking at the Tweak's Windows All in One program.
I had used the following in the past and wondered if they are the same or if the Tweak program exceeds the Windows one and I should use it instead of Windows.
"Microsoft Fix It Solution Center troubleshooting software issues."
Thank you

1- The temp under RegBak stays there even if Tweaks reistry backup program is removed - ok, understood.

2-I set a backup for 4:30 and thought it did not work b/c I saw nothing happening.

I checked the program under restore and it worked.
