Possibly add these fixes into your AIO repair
« on: February 10, 2014, 11:19:50 PM »
I have a machine at work that the internet is working and connected but no browser will connect. It is a Vista machine but the normal repair of your program did not fix it. I will be testing these fixes later on and let you know what fixes it, but wondered if you could add these to your list:

First is this internet repair from this wesbite:
http://www.selectrealsecurity.com/fix-internet-connection

Code: [Select]
@Echo off
pushd\windows\system32\drivers\etc
attrib -h -s -r hosts
echo 127.0.0.1 localhost>HOSTS
attrib +r +h +s hosts
popd
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
ipconfig /flushdns
netsh winsock reset all
netsh int ip reset all
cls
echo Script finished.
pause
del %0

my old internet repair bat had this:
Code: [Select]
netsh winsock reset
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /registerdns
ipconfig /renew

not sure if the ipconfig /registerdns is needed though its not in the first one I posted.

For another internet possible fix I found this page:
http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showpost.php?p=1548828&postcount=19

Code: [Select]
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyServer = 127.0.0.1:9666
Also could you add this printer repair too:
http://bradkovach.com/printflush/

Code: [Select]
@ECHO OFF
echo ----------------------------------
echo Print Flush - 1.3 - By Brad Kovach
echo ----------------------------------
echo.

echo Step 1: Stop the Print Spooler
echo ------------------------------
net stop spooler
echo.

echo Step 1.5: Reassigning Print Spooler Dependencies
echo ------------------------------------------------
echo this step is important if you have a Lexmark printer which screws up the services and may make it impossible to start the print spooler
echo.
sc config spooler depend= RPCSS
echo.
echo Done!
echo.

echo Step 2: Erasing old chaf (junk printer documents)
echo -------------------------------------------------
del /Q /F /S "%systemroot%\System32\Spool\Printers\*.*"
echo Done!
echo.

echo Step 3: Problems eliminated! Restarting printer services
echo --------------------------------------------------------
net start spooler
echo Spooler has been restarted!
echo.

echo Step 4: Try printing again.

my old fix printer bat was this:

Code: [Select]
@echo off
net stop spooler
RD /S %WinDir%\System32\spool\Printers
net start spooler

dont know if any of those helps you or not.

The weird thing about this machine is that internet works on safemode+network but in normal mode it does not work, tried disabling firewall, uac, uninstalled AV programs have not tried disabling all startup items or these repairs but those are the only other things I can think of. Have you ever experienced this kind of issue?

Thanks

Actually all of these are already in the program :-)

These are already in the repair host file and repair winsock repairs.

Works in safe mode with networking?

Then that means a program isnt running that must be blocking it. So I would check firewall settings and AV next

well I disabled firewall, uninstalled all AV, disbaled UAC, ran your tweaking, check the IP settings and everything I can think of but its weird. It shows the lan connected, shows, it has internet access but no program can access the internet.

*edit but yeah in safe mode+network it all works correctly its just in normal mode no program recognizes the internet

I think the line

sc config spooler depend= RPCSS

could be a good improvement for "Repair Printer Spooler".

Ok lets see if it is a DNS problem or not.

When booted up open a cmd.exe window as administrator.

Do 2 pings and let me know the results.

1. ping google.com
2. ping 8.8.8.8

The first one requires DNS to find out what IP google.com has so it can ping it. The 2nd one is a ping directly to the google dns servers, since it is already an IP DNS is skipped

I do this trick to find out when it is a dns problem or not

my other tech figured it out and said it was something with it not doing an automatic dns or something. ill ask him the more specific things to show you later.
