Problem with System Restore

(1/2) > >>

umpio:
I just noticed that my System Restore fails to restore restore points..

Haven't noticed this as I haven't had a need for restoring, but today I had. It has no problems on creating restore points, it only fails at restoring them.

I tried to fix it with the fix coming in AIO, sadly it didn't fix it. Still the same error message after system restore. Google gave me some links to microsoft help forums. It had few methods to boot in to safe mode (didn't help) and disabling antivirus (didn't help).

I'm out of ideas what to try next to fix it.
Or should I give up to it and install some 3rd party system backup maker?

Here is the error message, which I get after reboot when restoring system:

System restore is the most request I get to add to my repair program. Problem is, I cant find any fixes for it!

My program automates repairs. I haven't been able to find anything from MS on what files, services, permissions or anything that it needs. And the way it reports problems sucks. It just says "Hey I had an error, tough luck" Doesn't even bother to say what the error was and why.

This was the main reason why I added erunt to my programs, just in case system restore was shot.

Just a shot in the dark, but have you tried to run system restore in safe mode?

Yes I tried it as it was one of the recommended methods on the windows help forum.

I guess something is messed on the registry, shouldn't have used those registry cleaners..

Could be that it can't be fixed, but if I ever find a fix for it I'll post the solution here!

Shane:
Any fix info you find for it would be great, then I can finally get something added for it.

I am a little on the shocked side that one of the most widely used windows features has no repair info from Microsoft.
